Sutton Foster's STREAK over...

So, what you are saying, is that her career is over because she didn't get a Tony nomination?
What about all the other people who are currently starring on Broadway? Are their careers over with because they didn't get nominated?

Bobby, I couldn't agree more.
On top of what you said, it really just sounds stupid. Mel definitely messed up that show's chance, although I'm not sure Sutton had a chance to begin with.
Sutton will be fine.
I'm sure she's happy not to have to worry about it.
It's not like anyone thinks less of her. She's still a bonafide musical theatre star who is working more than anyone in the business. (Except, maybe, for Joe Mantello.)
This doesn't mean anything.
Also, for what it's worth, I swoon a little bit every time I hear Sutton yodeling.

Posted: 5/14/08 at 1:00amWhile I'm sure she enjoys being in Young Frankenstein, something tells me she doesn't consider it "a role of a lifetime". She'll get a nomination for Shrek, I'm sure, as she'll have better support from the producers and Tesori, who has written for her before.

Chris...as in Christian..
And um, she could prolly care less about him at this point, seeing as they are getting a divorce.
#31re: Sutton Foster's STREAK over...
Posted: 5/14/08 at 4:59pmOr perhaps Chris as in Christopher Fitzgerald, her nominated co-star, whom she has a reason to be happy for.

Ah, yes. Happy for him, that makes more sense. Haha...
Either way, I can't believe her and christian are seperating. It's so sad.

as my mother always said: "If you weren't in the room to see what they were doing, mind your own damn business."
And yes, she did include the damn.

Posted: 5/14/08 at 5:44pmIs it entirely necessary to bring her personal life into a thread about her career? Whatever Christian may or may not have done had no effect on her not being nominated for a Tony this time around, I assure you. I'd assume it was her less than stellar performance in the show.

Posted: 5/14/08 at 5:46pmDid Mel Brooks do something else besides the whole 450 dollar thing that made people pissed off at him?

Yes, he closed down THE PIRATE QUEEN!

Posted: 5/14/08 at 5:54pmThe high price for tickets didn't bother me. The reason why I won't see YF? Mel Brooks is one of the biggest assholes in show business.

Posted: 5/14/08 at 6:03pmYou know, I really hate it that so many of you have to bad mouth Mel with all the stuff happening with YF. Let me just play devil's advocate here, did you ever think that maybe it wasn't Mel's idea in the first place for the $450 tickets or for not publicly announcing the grosses? Did you ever think that someone else said that to Mel and he went along with it? Did you ever think that this might be the work of Robert F.X. Silverman or whatever his last name is?

Sutton Foster is a wonderful performer and will continue to be.
Even the most extraordinary actors of both stage and screen don't get nominated for awards for EACH and EVERY role they play. She's had several nominations (and one win) already, but didn't get one this time (and truthfully it wasn't deserved anyway). Isn't that normal? So what's the problem here?

I don't care who is sleeping with who (unless they are charging admission for that, which Telecharge does not list).
Why do we keep having to mention the fact that partnerships or marriages or romances break up and other ones form? What the hell buisness is it of ours?
I'm not in their bed so I don't have a say and don't want an opinion. (Obviously of course4 I'm a jealous as hell, but that's another matter).

I'd be more upset if she was only nominated because the voters wanted to continue her "streak" or simply because she's Sutton Foster.
Not everyone can be nominated for every role they play. I would hope she is not losing any sleep over it.

Was there a thread for this last year when Kristin didn't get nominated???
Does everyone still respect her?
Is she still successful?

I agree wholeheartedly. Let her next nomination be one that she deserves.
#48re: Sutton Foster's STREAK over...
Posted: 5/14/08 at 9:21pmNot to threadjack, but I think Foster's not getting a nod is different from Chenoweth's snub. I remember reading an Apple Tree review that said that we should clone people so we could have a couple extra Kristins running around. Foster didn't get a nod for YF because she quite frankly didn't deserve one.
