Does anyone know what is happening with the rerelease of the OBC. There have been a couple of used copies on Amazon, but i am not paying $100.00 for it. ( Well i will if i have to ).

Or is it on I tunes, had a look but could not find it.

Wasn't Sony Broadway Masterworks supposed to be re-releasing this with some bonus tracks -- Stephen Sondheim's song demos?

I remembered this was mentioned along with 3 other Sondheim titles: INTO THE WOODS, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE and MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG.

Whatever happend to these??

Insofar as you're looking for the complete recording of the OBC, you probably are going to have to buy it used from off Amazon. That's the only way I know how to get it, and unfortunately that recording, the 2006 and the 2000 (which has Patti in it) are the only recordings.

Another suggestion to consider, though: I have a friend who works at the public library of her state, and she tells me that they have the complete OBC recording in their collection, so if you try a public library, they can most likely get it to you somehow. You won't have your own copy, but you also won't have to pay a 100 dollars :)

I remember they were supposed to have been released in February... but that didn't happen.

Oh yeah they've been saying that they were going to remaster and re-release those for a long time... I have Barnes and Noble calling me when they come in (if they EVER come in), but the last time I checked (a while back--June, i think), they told me the release date keeps getting pushed back every time it arrives...

But maybe my Barnes employees are lazy, so it's always worth a call.

I have the entire original production on 2 CDs...

I bought it new from Borders in January. Its produced by RCA. I dont know if it has gone out of print since then...

The remastered CDs were rumored for September 2005, then February 2006, thne Summer 2006 and now who knows when.

I'd also suggest used record stores -- I found a copy earlier this year, still wrapped, for twenty bucks.

In Australia here, have tryed some second hand stores here and not much luck.

Might have to give the public library a go.

I won't go into the entire description of it here, but basically it's a legal CD-trading website. I'd send you my Sweeney OBC on it but someone else already got it!

Go to the website and do it. It's really really awesome, especially for CDs you just kinda wanna hear but not enough to spend more than $1 on.

I used to have both discs of the OBC, but some queen stole Act II from me at theater camp when I was 15, so now I only have Act I. And I'm *not* buying that darn Highlights CD. Blah.
