re: Sweet Charity?

You guys crack me up, but hey, do you really think Sweet Charity is going to run till January? And if it does, does it have any life after Applegate is gone? Because I saw this show and the production is not that good, Applegate and Dennis O'Hare are golden and I can't imagine this show running without them.

re: Sweet Charity?

Gwen Verdon: One of the greatest Broadway performers ever. A true triple threat. Notable roles include: Lola in Damn Yankees, Charity in Sweet Charity, and Roxie in Chicago.

The picture next to ljay's name is Gwen Verdon.

Thanks Bobby for explaining.

These kiddies need educating!

re: Sweet Charity?

Maybe if I said she was Kristin Chenoweth's birth Mother, they would actually care.

re: Sweet Charity?

Wasn't Sweet Charity at like 84% last week? why wouldnt it run until at least january. Wait til xmas season.
#13

re: Sweet Charity?

Yep. It's been doing great lately.

A replacement is already being looked for.

re: Sweet Charity?

Ugh, I hope they don't try to stunt cast it.

But it's The Weisslers, so it's a given that some C-List star will play Charity to 40 percent capacity.

re: Sweet Charity?

Knowing the Weisslers they're probably going to get Melanie Griffith to play the triple-threat role of Charity, and Brantley will f*cking rave her performance as the best Charity in the world, "she incarnates Gwen Verdon" watch.

re: Sweet Charity?

Hey, it sells their show. They are the ones laughing all the way to the bank.

re: Sweet Charity?

If I'm not mistaken Brooke will be available in January when Robin Givens takes over in "Chicago". Why not just point her in the direction of the Hirschfeld?
#18

re: Sweet Charity?

I think even the Weisslers are smart enough to know that Brooke Shields is all wrong for Sweet Charity.
#19

re: Sweet Charity?

Agreed. No Brooke in Charity. Im sure they can find someone better.
#20

re: Sweet Charity?

Knowing the Weisslers, they already have someone in mind and our courting them.

re: Sweet Charity?

It's not closing soon.

re: Sweet Charity?

It's not about finding a "better" performer than Brooke for Cahrity, it's just that this is not Brooke's role, that's it, she's a great performer. I think it's her turn to originate a role on Broadway. Maybe Charlotte will have a chance to star in the show, although I doubt she'll attract as many people as Applegate although she's an amazing performer.

From BroadwayStars.com:

"I was at my Breakfast Club this morning wondering if the Sweet Charity logo would be Pretty in Pink on the road. Hmmm...."

re: Sweet Charity?

Charlotte was great as Charity. I saw her first performance, I can only imagine her after getting a chance to get 100% comfortable in the role.
