Hello: I’m trying to decide between D2 Orch or D2 Mezz. Normally I’d choose Orch, but wondering if the set and projections make it too close, considering the set is a big ship at sea. Does this show use the same kind of effects Life of Pi used? I ended up being glad I was in the mezz for it. Any advice from those who’s seen it appreciated!
I haven't seen the Broadway iteration yet, but in DC, I preferred the Mezz to see the impressive set maneuvering. But when I sat up close in the orchestra, it was great being able to see faces since it's a very emotional production. So, you can't go wrong, but I like Mezz for a first viewing. (And that's where my tickets are in a few weeks!)
From what I've heard, the mezz is preferable because the stage is very high. Based on that, I'd recommend sitting in the mezz for the full stage picture.
I'm going tomorrow; TDF will probably put me in the front row with my luck.
I was perfectly happy with my front row rush seats. The stage is high for the first half but I didn’t miss anything except when he is laying in bed in the opening. And if there were projections I didn’t see them, but I don’t feel like I missed anything there.
I was in center E orchestra. At first I was very worried that I would miss the actions given how high the stage was, but I was able to see everything. After the shipwreck I thought it’s quite clever to have the mirror above the lifeboat.
I felt very immersed being so close to action. Would not hesitate to sit there again.
TDF had me on a center aisle in row G of the orchestra. It was a great view, but I would not recommend sitting any closer than row G in the orchestra. I think the mezz would offer the best view for this show.
