(in Midnight Cowboy w/J. Voight)
Ran into her at my local coffee place today, and was (she) as bat**** crazy, eccentric as ever....only in New Yawk....a 76 y.o. bohemian broad, and I guess I love her, because she doesn't give a **** about her ultra weirdo appearance, or getting (older) ungracefully! Nice lady, though, and used to buy alot of stuff from me at Flea markets years ago. Only saw her on Bway once in *Night of the Iguana*, in the 70's (with Richard Chamberlain, Dorothy McGuire).
Infamous for dumping a plate of pasta on the head of dyspeptic theater critic John Simon of New York magazine in The Ginger Man, a New York City restaurant, after he gave her a nasty, scathing review in a 1973 play.

It's hard NOT to run into her anywhere in NYC, lol!
Well, good for her-oscar nomination for Midnight Cowboy (however brief her appearance was).
When I saw the last Neil LaBute play in June at the Lucille Lortel she in the row behind me and was talking very loudly before the show even started and patrons started shushing her. Well Miss Sylvia threw a S@#T fit and started yelling and screaming at them, and my friend yelled "we love you Sylvia, talk as much and as loud as you want. WE LOVE YOU!" Syliva then turned to my friend and said "would you please thell these morons who I am, TELL THEM WHO I AM! I'm a goddamn Oscar nominee! They are lucky I am even here!"
Needless to say I love me some Sylvia. I ADORE SYLVIA!!!!
