This is fine fine fine. It is not necessary viewing.
Anika Noni Rose holds it all together in a way that I don’t think Goldsberry could have done. Thomas tries very hard to make an ending work that feels over the top and not quite earned in terms of his character’s arc.

This felt like a draft or two away from being a very, very good play.
Some wonderful writing, and some very on-the-nose, paint-by-numbers writing. It's an enjoyable evening, but not life-changing by any means.
This play very much needed to give its antagonist the best argument, and it just... doesn't. (Unlike Eureka Day last season. The closest it comes is when
Elliott accuses Kyra of being cunning for "revealing" the affair

Saw it last night and while it was funny and overall enjoyable I agree with the posters who felt it was something has been done before (and done better particularly in Eureka Day). And I could see too many of the plot revelations a mile away. I didn’t buy some of the characters (especially the travel writer) and Kenny Leon did Kenny Leon -not a good thing.
The set was beautiful but the transitions were overdone and didn’t have the impact that I think was intended.
Burke and Colin (playing against type) stood out for me. Burke has a quality - kind of a lack of lung capacity - that makes her words when she finally gets them out truly land. (I still chuckle when I think of her in Epiphany.).
Was the facebook line a callback to the commercials she did?
I don’t think Rose has found her character yet.
The snaps of agreement from audience members when they agree with a spoken line is my least favorite theater trend

I was at today's final preview. I'd put this squarely in the middle of the recent "meeting" plays, better than Eureka Day but not as good as The Minutes.
Rose, Thomas, and Burke all get off some great barbs, but my personal favorite was Margaret Colin. While the line quizking notes is hilarious, my favorite bit for her character was the story about the maid.

Also, tickets are now on sale through June 7 on the MTC website. The extension isn't live on Telecharge yet, but I bet that will happen in conjunction with opening.
