I'm surprised no one's mentioned this yet. I thought this episode was pretty good. It was certainly the most star-studded. How does he get these people?!? There were definitely some cramazing performances in this one (Leslie Kritzer, the stage manager-sorry, don't know who that is but she was hilarious, and the adorable Mary Faber & Max Von Essen to name a few). There are also 2 songs by Larry O'Keefe! As a whole, I'm not sure how exactly successful this episode was as a whole, but I really did enjoy watching it and it was definitely cool seeing all of these people who you watch onstage being completely creative in their downtime. I know there's some haters out there, and I think there were a few 'eh' moments in this one, but it's hard to deny the heart that's in this show, and considering it's FREE I have a really hard time complaining. If Jake is reading this, keep it up pardner, I really look forward to it every month.

I'm shocked. The Kritzer song was actually pretty good. How'd they manage to accidentally do something decent?

Leslie Kritzer could take any mediocre material and make it shine (LEGALLY BLONDE, anyone?)

This show just tries WAY too hard. The first episode was cute and catchy, but this is just plain bad.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Personally I do love "Legally Blonde," but I agree after seeing the MTV broadcast that Kritzer's role (I forget the name) lost something with someone else playing it. Anneleigh definitely stuck out in the MTV broadcast, being the only original cast member (of the three sorority girls).

I enjoyed it!

I'm sorry, I really love this show. Maybe not the best all around episode, but still so fun. And so authentic with it all being shot at Playwrights. Anyone else think "Speak with your hands" was Laurence O'Keefe's homage to "White Boys"?

I don't know, I think it sounded like a cross between "WHITE BOYYYYYYYYYS" and "BAT BOYYYYYYYYY!"

I just find the whole show dissapointing. The first one was catchy and clever. But the songs keep getting worse and the dialogue and acting is cringe-inducing. And Jake's vibrato bugs me.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention...I'm the good cop, he's the bad cop.

So... is the rehearsal period for a reading really so short that they only gave him one lesson in ASL... and he didn't have time to learn his lines in ASL on his own?

The plots seem to be getting unrealistic and stupid for the sake of being funny, but it's not funny anymore. Blah blah blah. Bad stuff happens to Jake. Whatever! After five months I no longer care.

You must think I'm still sixteen. I dropped out of high school for a reason. And I don't care if you're pretty. I'm not admitting you are right. My soul is not a stage. I won't pretend I'm anything I'm not

"Anyone else think "Speak with your hands" was Laurence O'Keefe's homage to "White Boys"?"

I thought I was the only one who thought that!

"You have two kinds of shows on Broadway – revivals and the same kind of musicals over and over again, all spectacles. You get your tickets for The Lion King a year in advance, and essentially a family... pass on to their children the idea that that's what the theater is – a spectacular musical you see once a year, a stage version of a movie. It has nothing to do with theater at all. It has to do with seeing what is familiar.... I don't think the theatre will die per se, but it's never going to be what it was.... It's a tourist attraction." Stephen Sondheim

Plus, it's sort of hard to root for Jake now since he keeps screwing himself over, with getting (girl???) hookers in Vegas and then not bothering to learn ASL for his role. I mean, wouldn't the trials and tribulations of trying to make it on Broadway be entertaining enough with having to watch Jake being a complete moron?

I think people need to stop bashing Jake and TBD. Before TBD, havent we all wished for a musical thing like this? I think we can all relate to it. We all get the whole "OMG! You should totally be in that!" and feeling stupid when we make a Bway reference that no one gets. Just give it some more time. :)

Although the show may not be perfect, I don't think that's really the point here. The point lies that now, because of this show, everyone in New York, and a lot of people outside of it, know who Jake Wilson is - fresh out of college. The kid is a marketing genius. I salute Wilson for getting himself and his friends out there better than anyone else i know of.

I agree inlovewithjerryherman (brava on THAT name). I thought that Kritzer blew that song up and the filming was a bit different than previous numbers on TBD. Can she become a regular? I'll stay tuned....okay, I'll stay tuned regardless...
