Pardon my shilllllll...
My new musical, The Brain From Planet X (written with David Wechter, with whom I wrote the film The Faculty), opens December 8th. It's a send-up of all my favorite bad sci-fi films of the fifties, and we're having a lot of fun doing it. It's having a "safe haven" tryout at my alma mater, Los Angeles City College, in a full production on their mainstage, and includes a mix of professionals and students of the advanced Academy acting class. Kevin Spirtas, Alet Taylor, Lauren Rubin, and Merrill Grant are the guest artists.
The show takes place in 1958 in the San Fernando Valley, as aliens attempt to take over Burbank as the first stop in their quest to destroy the family unit and conquer the world. We've got a happy suburban family, a general, a kindly Professor, one man hungry female alien, one man hungry male alien, and, best of all, a singing Brain.
We play December 8th and 9th at 8:00 (2:00 matinee on the 9th, as well), then resume on the 13th and 14th at 7:15, the 15th at 8:00 and we close on the 16th with two shows at 2:00 and 8:00.
Tickets are a measley $15.00 and reservations can be made by calling 323 664-ARTS (2787). For those who can't do $15.00, we're on Goldstar and LA Stage Alliance at half-price.
I have a really limited number of comps for opening night if any of you Broadwayworld LA folks would like to join us - lots of celebs in attendance and a nice reception afterwards. Just drop me a line at bruce@haineshisway.com.
Hope to see some of you at the show!
