Tonight is Thursday, December 10, marking the official opening night performance of the Broadway revival of THE COLOR PURPLE. Playing the Jacobs Theatre, under the astute direction of John Doyle. Post 'em here, kids!

Small dose of praise swimming in a sea of criticism (some of which I think is valid to a lesser degree) from Matthew Murray.

Poor choice of words for his opening sentence.

I think what impresses me the most about these reviews are some of the thoughtful insights and attention to detail that the critics offer in their analysis.  I'm not sure we always get that, but perhaps it is the show, and this production in particular, that would not let them write in any other form.
