Did she have a bad experience in it?

"Ugh! Where's Chicago on this list??"

I believe Chicago has a theater shortage. Wicked won't be departing at The Oriental anytime in the near future, Jersey Boys has no end date at the LaSalle Bank Theatre and The Color Purple is being followed by The Phantom of the Opera. I'm wondering if The Phantom of the Opera has an announced extension period that prevents them from booking other shows at the present time. It would only make sense, considering the big deal they about the show coming, despite it being it's fifth engagement.

I just read about Engel too. I would have liked Worley though too. I am hoping that when "Drowsy" finally makes it to SFrancisco, we will get Martin or even Crombie, either one is just fine with me! I just know that Glover can't tour so who we get will depend on what Bob is up to. At least his Baby will be a year old so hopefully, he won't mind being away from home by then.

Though the good thing about having to wait a whole year to see these folks is that we may be able to hold it over for some time, rather than have a fly by like many of the other Cities are experiencing. That would be almost as bad since I am sure I want to see it at least a few of times.

I am also, (while wishing for the moon, I know), hoping that because we are so close to LA, we might get more of the orignal cast members since it started in LA. Some may return just for the nostalgia of it all? Maybe not but at least they are coming and we have some time to make plans for their arrival. San Francisco is a great place to bring the kids to in the Summer. We have some great places, like the Exploritorium, Aquarium, Tea Garden, Museums, lots of fun stuff. We got an orange Bridge. How far do you have to go to see one of those? re: THE DROWSY CHAPERONE Tour Thread

As for Chicago, the list they have posted wasn't up to the number of site they said were going to be included on the Tour, so it may be added later, depending on when we are ready to give it up in San Francisco. I think, if the advertising is good, it could have a very good run in the City by the Bay. Especially coming in the Summer, early Fall.

I HATE that we're being stuck with Jersey Boys and POTO, instead of getting The Drowsy Chaperone and Sweeney Todd come to town. However, it isn't as painful for me, personally, since I already saw both shows with their original casts.

I'm incredibly excited for the Toronto show! I was convinced for the longest time that theatre was gonna suck this year, because Mirvish had a pretty bad line up. Thank god for Dancap!

It actually started in Toronto at the Toronto Fringe Festival)

Yep. I believe Toronto is Bob's hometown. It's good to see they are starting the tour there as well.

aqualline, actually it started at the stag party at the Rivoli before Bob and Janet got married, as a treat from friends Don McKellar, Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison! They're friends of my parents and I remember hearing about it way back then. Bob then joined them to rework it for the fringe, then Mirvish did a production of it at Theatre Paisse Muraille and eventually, at the Winter Garden. After that, a few readings and the arrival of Kevin McCollum on the scene, and it was on its way. It's one of those things that started as a one night lark for friends and just blossomed. But I agree, it didn't start in L.A.! :)

Marla Mindelle playing Kitty would be a complete waste of talent.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Again, I think she looks like more of a Janet. Perhaps she's understudying Janet?

I know the WHOLE story, starting with the Stag Party, I've been following it since the beginning in LA. A friend reviewed the History of it with me in Toronto and then in NY. What I meant, since it seems I have to get literal here, is that the Cast on Broadway came from LA, (ahem). It has also gone through some changes since it's beginnings, some good, some bad but that is how things go when they get this big and commercial.

I enjoyed the Broadway Cast and prefer a Canadian sitting in the "Chair" as mentioned before. It is well cast and since it did start it's American run in LA and "Drowsy" will be coming to SF from LA, it is only natural to wish to see more of the original cast in the show since they are so great.

I want the SF show to be very successful, since it was a late add and so much like the spirit of our own "Beach Blanket Babylon", with the right cast and crew, it will make a mint out here since our demographics are so big and the money is good out here. If it doesn't, it will only be because it failed to reach the suburbs.

Though I have high hopes for it having a good run here and I will hope that we have it at least two weeks, a month is even better, hold over, well that would be smashing indeed!

I'm sure Marla will be great. With all the impersonations she can do, I'm sure she'll have a great character voice for it.

It does suck that she won't really get to sing with her voice though.

With last nights announcment that the London production will close on Aug 4th after barely 2 months and the Broadway production down to the 60% mark most weeks is anyone thinking that maybe they'll pull the plug on it in the next few weeks also? It wont be the first time a shows been taken off just as the tour goes out. Just wondering what people thought.

With London out of the picture, and with Bob starting the tour, do you guys think there's any chance of him continuing with the tour?

I was hoping some kind of "name" would be playing Janet.
Oh well, I will definitely check this out when it comes to Florida, most likely I'll drag my roommate to drive me to Tampa so we can see it together since his family lives there.
I'm glad at least one member of the original cast will be touring with the show and Nancy Opel will make a great Chaperone.

I think they will try to hold over Drowsy until the Winter because of Mara Davi. It has made enough money though. Does anyone know how long John Glover's contract is going for? It will be interesting if we get another "Man in Chair" before the show closes in New York. I am sure he is doing a fine job but unfortunately, the show needs a good shot in the arm right now.

I am really surprised it isn't advertising more and attracting the Summer crowd? There are a lot of good shows out right now but so many have been in NY for a longtime. Maybe these good shows closing are really dominating the ticket buying crowd some?

News from London can't be helping. Hopefully it won't have too great of an effect on the tour. I am curious to see how the Toronto show is received. Though it originated from there, many of the real big venue theatre goers will be seeing it for the first time. I'm crossing my fingers.

We are on "baby watch" now. Bob and Janet's baby is due any day now or could even be here already?

Well, Mara Davi is not a name by any means so I doubt the show'll stay open because of her. It has been doing progressively worst, I hope it recovers.
