Stephen Lynch- As always, he was just great. Did an incredible
job with the Casualty of Love scene. He got a lot of laughs there.
Laura Benanti- Well, when she trips at the VERY begining and her tray
goes flying was just a mess. It was a complete throw. She struggled with
the comedy A LOT. She just really wasn't great.. = )
Amy Spanger- With a weak lead, she REALLY steals the show. She did
and amazing job with Saturday night in the City. She also brought the entire
house down when Julia and Robbie kiss in the wedding dress scene. She was
just great.
Sorry but I dont have time to put the rest.
So here is wht I do have time for.
Later...

Laura's acting is good, but if it is not perfect, she makes up for it with her amazing singing voice. She is just great. Im glad you liked Amy and Stephen, they are really amazing.
Laura improved so much with time its amazing. I thought she really got "it" and was perfect, not miscast as some people thought based on early buzz.
I enjoyed Laura. I enjoyed her even more after seeing Tina in the role. I know a lot of people enjoy Tina, but she gave the most generic, stereotypical performance I've ever seen. I didn't like her Julia. I thought she was a bland, sweet girl from next door but I wasn't getting what made her speical. Nice voice, Sweet as pie at the stage door, but that didn't make her more interesting onstage. She was boring.
Revisiting it after that, I gained an appreciation of how weirdly quirky Laura Benanti is in the role - and how much of my enjoyment of the show was based around things she did. Half the show fell flat for me the Saturday night I saw it with Tina. I don't hope to repeat that experience.
I think both Tina and Laura are amazing. TWS has the best cast in town!
You are definately amazingly gifted with sentence structure.
Well, that was rude.

A BIG RUDE, but whatever. I love how the firing squad get's their gun out ready to shoot Tina down !!! POW..DONE!!
Hey mister Rude, Tina has had a handfull of shows to try Julia on for size. Laura has had eight months to see how the role fits...and she is a talented lady wearing a role that is the wrong size. But then again maybe your a friend of Laura's defending your gal and her performance.Go ahead defend away but put the 12 gage back in the closet!!

Quick Question- Why are all the songs not on the CD?
Because Jesus knows what you do at night! THAT'S WHY!
HAHA, this thread has really thrown me for a loop. I can't really find the point at which anyone was rude to anyone else, but hey, whatevs. Anyway, I think Laura is very good in the role. Also, what songs aren't on the CD, neddyfrank2?
They recorded "Awesome" and I think "Right On Time" (which was replaced with "Someday" during previews), but neither of them made it onto the CD.

I love when people correct others' grammar/spelling but then make mistakes themselves. It's awesome.
Anyway, I've only heard the recording, but I love Laura in the role. She isn't like Drew Barrymore, but I think it makes the show different from the movie, which I enjoy. Her "I SAID hold it!" in "Not That Kind of Thing" makes me laugh everytime.

gahhh, I'm going July 9th, I cannot WAITT!! I've been slightly obsessed with Stephen since like.. 5 years ago when his comedy central special first aired :P (for anyone who doesn't know his comedy, youtube him! seriously, you will be falling off your chair laughing. I almost guarantee it. Well, dont youtube it if you dont like twisted, slightly sick humor hehe). And then I've adored amy since I saw her in Kiss Me Kate like 4 years ago! So.. yeah.. this cast basically= love. And I LOOVE laura's voice, and from what I've seen (which is.. a lot *cough* haha) she is tres adorable!! and she's a wonderful actress too! I'm pretty attached! Anyway, glad you enjoyed it for the most part, and I shall hopefully be writing a review too come two weeks from tomorrow!
(for the record, tina seems quite adorable.. but I'm just not sure.. I've heard mixed reviews about her, and as I'm very attached to laura so far, I'm not sure if that would make me NOT like tina or not. I've heard only sweet things about her as a person though, and I think thats really cool! If she's in when I see her I'll at very least look forward to meeting her at the stagedoor! hehe)
<<<<<<<<<<<< Oh yeah, Tracee steals the show every time with her "I said hold it!"
I didn't think Laura struggled with anything.
Her acting and singing were spot on.
I loved her in the role.
She really had "it."
As she always does.
Oh yeah, Tracee steals the show every time with her "I said hold it!"
Not to be rude, but I disagree.
Tracee definitely steals the scene...but I don't think she steals the entire show with that one line.
I believe this is a BROADWAY thread, not a grammer thread:)
Sorry, but I have to disagree. Tina is anything but bland. Tina already nailed the role. In my humble option, she IS Julia.
Does putting a smiley face at the end of a sentence mean you're a nice person?
I believe this is a BROADWAY thread, not a grammer thread:)
So since it's a Broadway thread means we don't have to practice good grammar.
It's not much a of a thread if you can't understand what the person is talking about due to a total lack of respect for the language they have chosen to write in.
