Goodness, Foster. We get it. You find the subject matter irresponsibly handled. Must you post in every thread? Clearly, you're allowed to. But, really?

I SO SO SO wish I could. But, alas, there's no possible way for me to get to the city this weekend
but seriously, it is killing me that I can't see it one more time.
I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.

See, I don't have a problem with you saying you didn't enjoy it Wanna Be A Foster, but PLEASE do not try and make it sound like it's a total flop of a show that no one else could ever possibly want to see.
If you really must express your negative opinion in every NtN-related thread, the respectful thing to do would be to say something along the lines of "I personally felt that it was terrible"
But to say "don't waste your money" is not fair, because I saw the same show and thought it was one of the most moving pieces of theater I've ever seen (with, granted, a few choppy moments here and there understandably since it's still- with any luck- in it's "trial period" of sorts). So please don't try and turn other people off of it just because you personally didn't like it. :)

It can't be a flop, as it is produced by a non-profit.
I have zero respect for this creation, so I will not show it any respect, as I feel that it insults its audience's intelligence.
The authors show zero respect for the real people whose lives are impacted on a daily basis by the medical condition it carelessly sensationalizes.
I don't support the funding of this creation, so I will do my best to discourage people from continuing to financially support it.

Ok, I have to be fair. I do understand and respect where you're coming from. You have every right to be upset if you felt that the show treated its subject matter in a disrespectful matter.
That said, I too have had some experience with these things (granted not nearly to the extent carried out in the show- no one close to me personally has gone through ECT. However I've definitely seen and lived the effects of mental illness and stuff). And I didn't think it was disrespectful at all. In fact, I thought that in a lot of ways it was quite realistic. So I still feel like you should let people decide for themselves how they feel about the show. Unfortunately, with a controversial show like this there's always going to be some people who love it and some people who are offended. That's just the way it goes. And although I understand your want to protect the people who may find it offensive as you did, it's not fair to deprive the people who WOULD love it and appreciate it from seeing it just because they keep seeing posts about how bad it is.
Plus- and this is probably the MOST relivent point in this particular situation- as jordangirl said, the ticket is already bought. So... the support is already there. Since the deed has already been done, there might as well be someone in the seat- especially if there's a chance they'll enjoy the show :)

You certainly have a right to your opinion. However, it may have escaped your notice that THIS is NOT an opinion thread. It is just mean spirited and completely inappropriate to spew your vile in this type of thread, especially when NO ONE asked for your thoughts. So, please, speak whatever little mind you have in the other Next to Normal thread.
P.S. Please seek therapy for that out of control need for attention and oversized ego. Just because you don't like something does not make yours the only viable opinion.
on this subject foster is an idiot, but that ok, the rest of us actually know he's wrong. and no matter how many threads he goes out of his way to trash it it in it won't change the fact that the subject matter is being handled in a responsible matter and with respect to those who have had experience with it. As has been said in another thread, this is THEATRE not DOCUMENTARY.
Exactly liverpool. It in no way shape or form is a biography of someone. The new changes really make some of the fuzzier things more clear re. psychotherapy. (As in rather than outright rejecting it, Diana does realize she needs something...but not what Dr. Madden is offering. That scene is actually beautifully done now and does lend some sympathy and humanness to Dr. Madden.) It is responsible and respectful. As one who has family members and close friends who deal with various mental illnesses, I have in no way been offended but actually wished there was a way I could bring them all to see it.

LIVE THAT LESSON!!!!!!
yeah the last 4 perfs are apparently sold out but im gonna try to rush tonight, and tomorrow's matiness (if tonight doesnt work) cause i'd like to see it once more before it closes.
Saw the show last night and enjoyed it.Not the best nor the worst I've seen. Liked a lot of the score and D'arcy James and Ripley are wonderful. As to Wanna Be A Foster pissing on every NORMAL thread...well that's just sad. Or does he really think people are going to musicals to decide how to handle mental illness. I'm trying to imagine someone leaving NORMAL saying " I'm just going to throw those pills away! " Loved the revelation during the 1st act...took me by surprise
Ooh, it turns out they still had a handful of tickets to tomorrows shows. I got a youth ticket for the matinee. Last row. buts that fine. Now i'll ahve seen it from pretty much every where in the theatre (ive had seats down front, seats on the window side, seats in the middles only place i haven't sat is house left) It was a little more money than i wanted to spend, but now i get to see it one last time and i get to see the changes since i havent seen it since before they cut costco.
I'm going tonight and sunday.... I'm so excited and so sad it's closing! If you plan on seeing it this weekend and have not bought tickets yet, I suggest you call ASAP!
I'm going tomorrow matinee and Sunday. So excited and yet so sad. I've been toying with going to something else tonight, but I just can't. Keep the purity of what will be 10 times without seeing anything else in between going through closing. THEN I'll branch out.
