lol, notice whenever someone casts a musical, Queen Latifah is named? I guess I'm fine with it, though, as was amazing in Chicago! But first Rent (Joanne) and now Hairspray!
I'm not familiar enough with the show to cast it, sorry lol.
If you're casting pop stars, I would much prefer to see Mandy Moore as Penny and Simpson as Amber.
"Noah, someday we'll talk again. But there's things we'll never say. That sorrow deep inside you. It inside me, too. And it never go away. You be okay. You'll learn how to lose things..."

I was just gonna say that. Mandy would make a realy cute Penny, and Jessica would barely have to act to be Amber...but whenever I see her sing with her stupid facial expressions and neck movements, I want to throw something at her.
I actually like the idea of Jessica Simpson as Amber. I hate to say it though. It's not that difficult of a part vocally and she's sort of perfect for the part! Better her than Britney Spears!
I want to see Jennifer Collidge somewhere in this film.

i dont care whose in it as long as marissa and harvey are in it. i would like to see justin timberlake as link, and ,aune lindsay lohan as amber. heather matarazzo would be an awesome penny
"gimme a bottle of bourbon and half a chicken and i'll conquer the world!"
Hah...As much as I love Linsay, I would not like to see her as Amber. The biggest thingis even though she is the right age, on screen she reads as 15-16. Plus I would be distracted from the actual movie because of her huge...um...eyes..(whether they are fake or not...yes...her eyes...)
I do think it will be interesting once women start playing the role of Edna. I think Lainie Kazan would be great in that role. I bet this will happen once it hits regional theatres. Some of them will not want to offend older patrons too much with cross-dressing so they will just make the role played by a female. A few joke may be lost, but I still the think the show woul carry all it's charm.
""the gays love their presents. just wave something shiny in front of their faces, you can get whatever you want. Thats how we got manhattan from the gay indians" -Karen (W&G)"
I can definitely picture Naomi Judd as Velma, all though I'd like to see a bigger name in the role, like Susan Sarandon, or Bette Middler. I forgot about Penny. I think Lindsay Lohan would be perfect.
Hmmmm...since "Hairspray" is my favorite show currently playing, I'd need more time to think about my complete movie dreamcast, but immediately, Kristin Chenoweth as Amber, Lacy Chalbert(sp?) as Penny and Kim Cattral (dubbed of course) as Velma pop into my mind. What do y'all think of them? We know Lacy can sing (Les Mis and Gypsy)
