Posted: 1/22/15 at 7:58pmI'm visiting NYC for the first time from overseas in about a week or so, and most people who have been there before me tell me how great the TKTS booths with the the discounts you get. Looking at both apps for TKTS and TodayTix that I've downloaded, the rates for a discounted show appear to be pretty much the same across the board. Are there further discounts that occur on "the day of" the performance that can only be received in person at a booth? Or are both ticketing services virtually the same discounts just with two different company names?

Also, if you have never bought tickets from the app before, you can use my referral code (HXUXX) to get $20 off of your purchase. (It also gives me $20!) TKTS often has long lines, and you will often only be able to buy tickets for $70 and upwards.I use Todaytix and love it! Many seats on the app are rush prices (40-50). Enjoy your trip!

Posted: 1/22/15 at 10:04pmThanks everyone, seems like thats the way to go. Only I have read that TodayTix charges a 10 dollar booking fee on top of the price. I'm sure that most places charge fees too but 10 is higher than I would expect from other services.

TodayTix is great for your first purchase. Post your referral code on this board, if someone uses it, you'll get a $20 credit. And for your first order only you can add someone else's referral code. Technically you can save $40 on one ticket, $30 with the fee. I bought a $69 ticket to Delicate Balance for $39 using this method.
Also, you keep getting $20 credits each time someone uses your code, but this will take some time.

can you use someone elses code and get 20$ off? and if someone uses your code, you'll get 20$ off as well? Can you combine both discounts?
I see many codes on the internet. Do people use these codes and can you built up personal credit with it? Anyone have some experience with it?
I'm from belgium and visiting nyc in february. would be a great way to get some discounts.

Well, some shows do have rush tickets and lotteries, so there is always the option of trying those, and using TKTS as a Plan B. (Not sure how late you can book on TodayTix, so might be too tight to book after a lottery?! Unsure, I always do booth on this cases)

I was a doubter but I really like today's tix. Have gotten good to great seats (1st row dead center for On the Town). Broadway box lets you choose exact seats with good discounts as well.

Except for the digital lotteries, I see no reason to give TodayTix the fees they charge when all it seems they're doing is applying discount codes at the box office for you and giving you your ticket later.
If you're a student (or, in some cases, under 30 or 35, depending on the show's policy), student rush is easily worth investigating as the prices will likely be best there (subject to availability and whatever hoop you have to jump through.) TKTS is the best choice if Student Rush isn't a good option, and TodayTix just seems like a well-oiled scam. But lord knows you see enough baiters phishing their discount codes looking for a bite (notice how many of them are still waiting for someone to bite? If they had been used already, they wouldn't be here.)

Posted: 1/25/15 at 8:52amActually Jnb, I have had the app for less than a week and have already gotten 100$ worth of referall credits. Normally I rush for shows, but this weekend I happen to be in town for college auditions. Therefore, my mornings are booked up and I needed a way to book cheap tickets in advance. This app allowed me to do that and the fees are no moe than one would receive on telecharge or the likes. It is a great way to book seats a few days ahead of time at rush prices. Also, many of my friends are here as well. They only wanted to see one show, so they used my code, got 20$ off their order (negating the fees) and earned me some credits. When used properly this app is awesome! I have had a free weekend of amazing theatre!

Also, it's great for shows that don't have a rush or lottery. I mentioned earlier, I got a $69 dollar ticket for Delicate Balance for $39, using a referral credit and someone else's code. If it turns out to be the front rear mezz, those seats are regularly $155 and $115. So that's a massive savings.

Posted: 2/4/15 at 3:50pmI went to the majority of Broadway shows with my family using TKTS tickets. I think that's a good option if you've got a group. When it's just me, I prefer the various under 30 programs. 92Y has a good one. I just signed up for Lincoln Center's LincTix and got a great seat (off to the side, but still fantastic for $36) for The King and I.
