Catherine Zeta-Jones, nominated for a Tony Award for her performance as Desiree in the current Broadway production of A Little Night Music, will sing the Stephen Sondheim classic "Send in the Clowns" from that Tony-nominated revival on the 64th Annual Tony Awards telecast.
Playbill.com has also learned many of the other performances scheduled for the June 13 ceremony, which will be broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall beginning at 8 PM ET on CBS."

I'm happy Sherie Rene Scott gets to perform "Up The Ladder" in the Opening.

Variety is reporting the TONYS is still undecided on what to do with the Play presentations:
"In the play sequences -- always a tricky endeavor, since nonmusicals rarely play well on screen -- a slew of thesps are on tap for a "special presentation" of the nominated new plays and play revivals in which they appear. Denzel Washington and Viola Davis, for instance, will talk up "Fences," while Justin Bartha, Anthony LaPaglia and Tony Shalhoub discuss "Lend Me a Tenor," Liev Schreiber and Scarlett Johansson talk about "A View from the Bridge" and Alfred Molina and Eddie Redmayne appear for "Red."
The exact nature of the presentation has not been confirmed, although it's looking like the sequences will resemble the 2008 ceremony, in which host Whoopi Goldberg talked about each play while the production's set was recreated behind her. This year, it's said the actors (rather than the host) will talk about their respective plays; they will not perform."

I've heard that it'll be the Berkeley version of the song not the current version.
It's such a waste to have all those actors from the plays there and not have them perform a short scene from each play. I know it'd take a lot of time from the telecast, but it'd be much more entertaining than hearing endless speeches.
ugh its a shame that christiane noll will perform a bit of "back to before" but kate baldwin couldnt perform some of "glocca morra". im guessing her paridise found schedule didnt allow for her to be around to rehearse the number. even so, it would have also been nice for chris fitzgerald to perform some of "when im not near the girl i love" in its place!! i think finians deserves SOMETHING, especially if ragtime closed a while ago as well and is performing.
memphis should have done "underground" instead of "radio". the number is much more exciting.

I'm disappointed that A Little Night Music is only doing "Send in the Clowns". I had assumed that it would just be in the opening. I know that the song is very famous, but I just don't think it really works out of context. It's a great song, but I think they could perform that number in the opening and do "A Weekend in the Country" as their main performance. The point isn't really to feature Catherine and Angela anymore, seeing that they'll only have a week left in the show. That song also has a lot more energy, and I think that it is more interesting. If they wanted Catherine and Angela to be featured, they could include the "The tour's over for a while..." dialogue that sets up the song. It would be really nice to see more than one (or two if they include Frederik's spoken part) cast members in the performance.
SO excited that Sherie will get to do "Up the Ladder to the Roof"
Shame that Montego won't be performing "Colored Woman". I think it's the best song in the entire show and they should try to get at least part of it in there somewhere.
