How does payment work? Do you pay all of it before the first show? or do you put down a deposit and pay the rest after the run?

Okay fine, I'll play along with the twit poster for a moment, then get back to serious info.
TamsWitmark only accepts the blood of the innocent, so that obviously leaves out Mr/Ms/Whatever Rogers Stone's blood, but please feel free to spill it liberally. They will also accept good intentions and cruelly-crushed hopes and dreams at par, both before and after the run. Again, Rogers Stone would be a far better expert on that, having all day in his/her parent's darkened basement to post what passes as amusing repartee in legitimate threads, all the while thanking God that Dorothy Parker isn't alive as she/he would effortless crack Rogers' Stones.
Now, seriously, unless they have changed the way business is done, there is a deposit and the requirement of showing of attendence and sold tickets after the performances, when a final payment is calculated. They may have set figures for smaller houses, amateur perfs, etc. I was dealing mainly with their professional wing and they were far more picky than with high schools and church groups.
Again, it wouldn't hurt to make a totally free telephone call and get taccurate information. BTW, TamsWitmark, Music Theater International and Rogers and Hammerstein Library all proudly proclaim they are "Phyllis Rogers Stone-free Organizations." That alone should prompt you to call.

My last serious post on the subject:
They usually have a minimal charge for "free" performances, so when I was in community theater, we'd charge no admission but collect donations at the door.
Ok, back to the fun.

Here's a serious response:
Depending on the size if the theatre and ticket price, plan on an absolute minimum of $150 per performance, PLUS a materials rental fee of at least $400, PLUS a refundable deposit of at least $400. In other words, figure $2000 or more for a weekend run, depending on ticket prices and house size.
You have to pay everything in advance in order to get your scripts and music.
I would suggest you DON'T tell that last part to TamsWitmark as that HAS to be their idea of a felony.
Oh, and when you do call, if a man answers and says "Tams Witmark, Phyllis speaking..." you are so screwed.
Every time we do any show, payment is made up front. For musicals from the big three, you also pay a fee for the materials and when you return all the materials, that money is returned to you. Usually around 400 dollars. I know with MTI they want all money before they ship out materials. Not sure with Tams, it's been a while since we've used them. I'm pretty sure it was Cabaret in 2001, too. :O)
I'm hoping soon that big three will become big four, because I'm loving Theatrical rights worldwide! (Food For Thought)
LuPontiac, you're correct that is the way they do things now (someone else just told me).

I don't understand why that wasn't done in the first place.
By the way, allofmylife, I live in my granny's attic, not my parent's basement, thank you very much. I was locked up here with my siblings because we're Devil's Spawn.

Oh Phyllis, I think of you all as flowers in the attic!
I picture Phyl looking like a young Victoria Tennant.

Why didn't you just call?
I love how people take the time to make a thread with some important question, when they know it's usually either going to turn into a joke or be LUPWNED.
