Is Tarzan really selling for $111/ticket this fall? October tickets from ticketmaster are priced at $111 for Orch.

Yep, unfortunately, most musicals have top prices of $110-$111.

At least Tarzan has a $75 top during previews. I wish more shows would do that kind of discounting (which once upon a time was standard for previews).
Also noticed that the cheapest ticket for "LK" at the Minskoff is $51. Man, I remember seeing "Scarlett Pimpernel" there for $20 numerous times !!! And I will gladly take seeing Sills over "LK" any day !!!
Oh sure. When I think of great musical theatre, I always think of Scarlet Pimpernel.

The lowest price for a ticket for a non-partial view seat is 96.25...that's crazy
How about $ 81 for last row in the theater for Jersey Boys ?
As long as people continue to pay it, the prices will keep going up. If not for TDF & Broadway Box, we would not see many shows
Smaxie,
Cant tell if you are being sarcastic or not, but anyway.....
"LK" is FAR from great musical theatre... "SP" at its worst and scaled down was better than "LK".
Point of the OP was the prices... pretty sad considering that these are family shows, and there should be a least a few rows in the theater that are priced under $50.

last august i went to nyc, and we went to the times square ticket center, and tickets for the back row of SWEET CHARITY were 100 dollars each! pretty darn pricy!!!
i still wouldve paid it to see that show because i really wanted to see it, but still...couldn't- that was a bit pricy for me
I hope you're not talking about TKTS.
Because they would never sell tickets for that price.

no, it was the Times Square Visitors Center or something... near the Palace Theatre

The $65 Orchestra seats for DROWSY CHAPERONE previews are very nice, as well.
$110 is just outrageous though. The standing ovation has lost all meaning because everyone stands now to make themeselves feel better about spending $110...

I have seen ten shows this week, and there was a standing O at only two: Piazza and Pajama Game. I think that trend is dying down. At least it is this week.
Really? I can't remember the last time I saw a show that didn't end with a standing O, it seems. Of course, to be fair, in the past two weeks I've been to the theatre eight times all for the same show, so maybe my memory's fuzzy.
THE MOST HAPPY FELLA did not receive a standing ovation Thursday night (nor, IMHO, did it deserve one)
Standing ovations just seem to be a dime a dozen these days, there once was a time when the performers earned them.
This may be a definite possiblity ($ 75 preview seats)for the 4/1
4/2 weekend as it appears even our neighbor ( the actor ) can not get house seats for The Pajama Game. Oh well should have tried to get tickets as soon as the box office opened. Will have to content myself with the new cast album CD
Yeah I went to Sweeney again on Weds and it only got a standing O from about 1/8 of the people. And you better believe I was one! I couldnt believe it, that show is so powerfull how could people not give a standing O!
I think some people don't get Sweeney Todd. It's not the standard american musical.

i saw phantom at $100 dollars, and sweet charity at $100 dollars. i saw chicago though for $75
Same thing when we saw "ST"... few people standing here and there.
Yea, I payed $111.25 for partial view at JERSEY BOYS...the people who come up with these prices should actually give it some thought.
The Times Square Ticket Center? Don't buy tickets there, it's a tourist trap. Every show (unless it's a sold-out smash hit) offers discounts. Just go to the box office and tell them you'd like to use the playbill discount. Even if there isn't a playbill discount at the time, they don't know that and they give it to you anyway.

What box office have you been at that gives you a discount without the printout? Or are you just a charmed person? They know when discounts are valid and when they're not. That validity dates have a purpose.

Beauty and the Beast, Chicago, DRS, Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia, Spamalot, The Producers, and Wicked all currently have a $110 (plus facility fees) top price.
