why is she picking only select cities to perform in. She should just join the tour for an entire year.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I have no idea how her performance is going to compare to Jeanette Bayardelle's but I'm pretty excited.
Bayardelle, while an incredible vocalist, was very by the book with her acting choices as Celie. It was a solid and passable performance. Fantasia kicked it up multiple notches, and the result was thrilling. I look forward to seeing her at the Kennedy Center.

According to the tour website, Bayardelle has left the tour and been replaced by Kenita Miller.
So, the comparisons between Fantasia and she are irrelevant at this point.

adamgreer, Bayardelle is/was supposed to be on an extended medical leave due to vocal strain.

I'm not sure.
I believe I remember reading somewhere that her absence was quoted as being from "six to twelve weeks," but Miller stepped in back in February and (as you know) is still with the company.
Now that Fantasia is taking over the major cities, I wouldn't be surprised if they either kept Miller permanently or brought Fantastia on for a full run.

adamgreer, I saw Bayardelle ages ago in Los Angeles. I know that Bayardelle hasn't been on tour for a while. Bayardelle's voice was incredible and I'm sorry to hear she has hurt herself.

I attempted to see Tasia 3x on Broadway and she was absent all three times...I'd hardly travel to yet another city to be disappointed. I've heard marvelous things about Kenita. I don't think touring housing gives refunds if the star is out, so those disappointed will be SOL!!!!

Betty, I found an interview with Saycon Sengbloh, who was the understudy for Fantasia on Broadway, where she states she was the "matinee Celie." Fantasia never did matinees and I'm pretty sure she was out a lot of the time. She doesn't have the vocal technique to keep a steady schedule of performances.

Tasia was brilliant when I saw her, and I strongly dislike her....but she won me over.
However...i DO hope she doesnt have to "taste blood in her mouth" again during these runs.

Yes, Provo, I was aware of Tasia's schedule when I bought the tickets and bought them for when she was scheduled. Actually, Tasia started out doing all of the shows but later dropped matinees when it became too hard. My friend saw her in a weekend matinee. Also, I think producers left her room to go on if she was feeling up to it, so some audiences got a surprise Tasia performance.

I ended up seeing no one, and got refunds all three times. I wasn't really interested in the show, but after reading reviews that Fantasia was likened to the second coming of Christ, I really figured I should check her out. Everyone who saw her was amazed. However, I got tickets to the tour in Buffalo, just to say I saw it and have an opinion on it. I am VERY pleased that Kenita is in the show. She was a joy in Xanadu and has that gorgeous, expressive face that will be wonderful for Celie. I'm excited.
