Is anyone else worried that this won't work out, my friends and I loved Ben so much as Evan and we thought Noah was super good too, now we are all quite unsure about Taylor. Just wondering if anyone feels the same?
Why would you be worried? What can you do about it?
Not sure why you feel unsure, but you can talk about it in this thread that's already been created.

Not worried at all - I have no financial stake in the show. What's to work out....tickets are sold pretty far into the future, so right now, it really doesn't matter how good or bad he is.

so true, don't know why I'm worried but he's amazing in so many other things. I think he will be amazing. my friends think otherwise
Well, he was good in Dolly. He was pretty awful in Bare.

Who's we? I have heard nothing but praise for Taylor, and the videos of him as Evan are great. He reminds me of Colton Ryan. And does this need its own thread???

oh my goodness i want to see it so bad, a few of my friends have already.
So all of this "worry" is only about having seen bootlegs and clips?

I guess? probably, I mean I spent hours the other day watching clips when I was at home, sick.
I will say, the higher notes are pretty awful in the clips online.
I found Trensch to be incredible in CURIOUS INCIDENT and HELLO DOLLY, but found his singing to be rather problematic during BARE.

not sure, he seems quite good. I think the character will click more, rather than Noah G. Not sure about his voice though...

Oh, I most definitely agree. As a huge fan of Trensch myself I can agree that his singing in bare was problematic, but I also think that the show was problematic as a whole.
Sure it was....but its' not the shows fault he couldnt pick a key.

Having never had the chance to get out to New York to see Ben Platt in the role, I recall trying to search the boards and read reviews for how Trensch was doing in this role prior to seeing it. I thought he might be good based on Curious Incident, but you never know...
Anyways, having now seen him, I thought I'd take the chance to search this post and revive this thread just to say, without being hyperbolic, it was one of the best live performances I've ever seen. His performance was vulnerable, funny, nuanced, and vocally strong. It's hard for me to imagine him not locking up the Tony in an alternate universe where had he originated the role. I mean, I joined today just to say that. Ha.
So this is all to say, if your friends haven't seen him yet, I'm sure they will soon see he is doing just great as Evan. : )

Loved him in "bare". So sorry I missed him in Curious Incident.

Are we to always assume you are highly unless you specifically write the word honestly?
