it definitely looks gay, and the font makes it look cheap and unprofessional.
I half expected to scroll down to find the tag line: "Let The Sun Shine In!"
They never use teaser posters when the films release gets closer.
They do this with all films ,throw out a cheap poster just to get the name out there and get people talking.
I'm having the same reactions the rest of you are having...
...the logo lettering looks like "Hair."
...where's Scott's credit (and isn't this a legal issue?)
...it looks "conflicting," like they didn't want to make it TOO retro, yet kinda retro, so they ended up with something mostly boring and in-between.
...and the rainbow colors do look Gay Pride-ish.
Variety writes:
ShoWest has become a party to celebrate hot summer pics, but this year, most of the guests of honor won't be there.
Exhibitors at the Vegas confab, which runs through Thursday, are particularly bullish on this summer's tentpoles, with hopes of breaking all-time records.
But there will be no screenings or events to honor the latest entries in the "Spider-Man," "Shrek," "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Harry Potter," "Bourne" or "Ocean's" franchises, or new biggies such as "Transformers."
Pics expected to unspool in their entirety here include New Line's "Hairspray," MGM's "Mr. Brooks," Paramount's "Disturbia," Picturehouse's "El Cantante" and Rogue's "Hot Fuzz."
The distribs are excited by these titles, which need equal amounts of exhibitor enthusiasm to protect them against the summer sequels.
God, that poster is awful.
Looks like something the office temp came up with on a lunch break.
I think it's... okay. But They really need a picture of Nikki!
alphieboy, I thought the same thing.
Strange that a movie made in 2007 taking place in 1962 has a poster created that looks so 1973.
And as for looking gay, I disagree. A gay poster would be accessorized so much better than that.
D2--LOL! You've got me there.
It's a "wannabe gay" at the most.
My biggest problem is that it's way too safe. It doesn't "say" anything about anything. It's not really fun, musical, comedic, campy, energetic or exciting.
It's just... there. Bold and plain.
Let's hope they come up with something better, with SOME kind of "attitude" or emotional connection triggered by it. As it stands, this film has no "identity" in the theatrical campaign.
And it's going to need one.

I agree with this also. It is about exactly like the teaser trailer. It lists the names, and doesn't have footage, or pictures in this case, of the movie.
Eh. nothing special.
Hopefully they will make it nicer.
this is like the teaser teaser.
Ive seen a couple of the other promotional posters- and they're really cute.
I will be going to Showest tomorrow for the Hairspray event. Cant wait!

I would have stood up for all the other logos and such that people were complaining about, but this is terrible! Even I can recognize that...

I understand what they're trying to do with the poster but I think they could've done a better job. Sure, it looks like it came from the 60s but it looks like a bad design job from the 60s.

Still kind of curious about Scott's name not being there.
