Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

Hi!

At Telecharge.com we are beginning to plan for the redesign of our website and we wanted to start by getting some input from the theatre fans who use our site.
--What are the aspects of our current site which you like the most?
--The least?
--Are there things on the site which you find confusing?
--Is there anything you wish you could do on the website which we don't currently offer?
--Is there anything on the website that you would not want to see changed?
--Do you have any other suggestions on how we can make the site better for you?

If you don't feel comfortable posting publicly, please feel free to email your comments to feedback@telecharge.com.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions and comments. They will help us determine what features we need to add to the website, and how to improve the features we already offer.

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

When I buy tickets, I wish that I was able to see a seating chart that shows what seats are sold and what seats are available so that I can just click on the seats that I want to buy instead of searchng forever for good seats.

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

I completely agree with the above poster. That would be tremendously easier than searching for more tickets over and over.

Agreed with Luckydave14. They should allow you to see which seats are open. One of the things I really like about the site right now is that you can put in more than one date to see availability of tickets.

"When I buy tickets, I wish that I was able to see a seating chart that shows what seats are sold and what seats are available so that I can just click on the seats that I want to buy instead of searchng forever for good seats."

This would be INCREDIBLE. Like, unimaginably awesome.

The problem with the current system is it is very difficult to get seats where you want. I had to order by phone when I wanted to sit in the center of a row rather than the end of a row - we were the first ones to buy tickets for the show, but the first seats offered with front row, all the way on the side-center. Adding a chart would improve functionality by a LOT.

Also, perhaps the ability to compare two dates in terms of seating available. And perhaps e-mail notification before a new block of dates/seats for a certain show/event go on sale?

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

I agree - Telecharge is already WAY more convenient to use than Ticketmaster... but if there was ANY WAY to see which seats were open... like on an airplane... and then you just click away, that'd be AMAZING.

I really like the idea of having a seating chart where you can see the seats that are available.

I'd also like to see a detailed seating chart, one where you can see the seat number.

I like that idea, too. Also, maybe eliminating the pop-up function, and having the process either open in the same window, or a new window. I've often had problems because my pop-up blockers would block the windows and everything would get screwed up.

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

I would love it if you put all the standing room, student rush, etc. information under the Getting Tickets banner for a show all together in one section of the site. Maybe a page for Broadway and a page for Off-Broadway. This would make it way easier to get reliable information about discounts.

And the ability to choose our own seats would be a Godsend.

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

I second everything mentioned above, but I will say that I love the Telecharge site as it stands. I never use the Ticketmaster site - but I will always use Telecharge. It's convenient, fast, and east, and I love that it tells you when your seat is on the aisle. Navigation is easy, and I love everything about it.

Good work.

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

I also agree with all the suggestions posted and thank you for improving upon what is already a fast, easy and convenient way to order tickets. I much prefer Telecharge to Ticketmaster...any of the improvements mentioned above would be out of this world!

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

I really like the idea about being able to physically select the seats off of the seating chart. Other than that I like the setup of Telecharge, which is leaps and bounds ahead of ticketmaster's setup.

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

I do not like how Telecharge makes it difficult to choose your seating area, you have to go to "advanced options." Instead, you should be able to designate price level on the first screen. Second, I hate how Telecharge refreshes each time. I think searching by theatre is a bad option, because the average Broadway goer does not know the names of the theater.

PRICE!!!! Why is there a fee for an e-ticket? Isn't the point to actually save YOU money? Banks do the same thing with ATM fees,,, remember when tellers did the manual work... shouldn't it be free? I think the ticket prices are not acceptable. Why is EVERY ticket charged a fee?? Why can't we just get a flat fee for tickets? Who made these stupid rules anyway?

--Is there anything you wish you could do on the website which we don't currently offer?

I wish you would offer last minute discount tickets for day-of

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

If we're getting really picky here, I'd love to see a view of the stage from the seats selected (particularly if they're way off to the side or if there's a bar in front of the seat). Ticketmaster actually has this option, surprisingly.

and ditto the fees for the e-ticket! Were there fees for box office pick up also? Ridiculous.

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

Thanks for all the great suggestions! Many of the issues you have brought up are things we are definitely planning to fix (the pop-ups, the refresh, having to use Advanced Options to search for a specific section), and we are considering ways of offering many of the other features you suggest.

Keep the ideas coming!

PS mejusthavingfun, there actually isn't a fee for the e-ticket. If you select to have your tickets emailed to you, you pay the same per-order handling fee we have always charged ($2.50 per order). If you want the tickets mailed to you, then the handling fee goes up to $4.00, to reflect the additional cost of labor and postage. In contrast, Ticketmaster charges $1.75 to email tickets, on top of their existing handling fee.

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

I would just like to add that Telecharge was wonderful about refunding my money when I could not get to NYC to see the Color Purple due to that blizzard that weekend.
If you recall my partner was in NYC for 10 days as his mom was in the hospital.......I could not get there due to snow, and then he and his sister could not go to CP as his mother went into ICU that day.
I called Telecharge, and they were wonderful...I sent a letter, they contacted the theater, and I got a refund.......I just figured I'd get a voucher to use another time I was there......but they truly took care of me...THANK YOU!

and I agree.....if airlines can show you what seats are vacant......that would also be great for you guys.

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

I agree with what has already been said (especially about showing which seats are open).

But, please, don't change too much. I love the fact that I can look at multiple dates and that the site is so much easier to navigate than Ticketmaster.
Whatever happened to class?

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

Having the seating chart pop up would help this, but if I wanted to buy 2 seats, it would be nice if I could select 2 seats, with one behind the other (as might be suggested at the box office), as opposed to being "forced" to take worse seats, but being seated next to each other.

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

Along with WHERE you want to sit in the theatre, it would be helpful if there was just a box to click of you needed an aisle seat. It's a common need that could be easily fulfilled with that change - I always have to buy a seat on the aisle, and going through dozens of seats gets annoying.

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

a few ticket sites have the option of "non consecutive tickets/seating" for people who dont care if they get split up....where the ticketing system pulls the two best singles that are closest to eachother (say Row G seat 101 and row H seat 102) That would be nice for people going to a "hot show" who want decent seats but could care less if they sit with their companion.

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

I agree with the earlier poster that the searching by theater for tickets is a dumb way to do it. Other than that the other choice is picking " Broadway" then the show. Also a HUGE benefit would be allowing people to enter discount codes on the actual telecharge website, instead of going to Broadway Offers. com in order to enter the codes. That would make buying discount tickets a million times easier, than searching telecharge for ticket available then going to the other site to enter the code then trying to get similar tickets. Just a thought.

re: Telecharge Redesign Opinions Wanted!

I can't believe you guys only have to pay $4.00 handling. Last time I booked tickets for a concert I had a fee of £4 per ticket to pay, which is why I always buy at the box office as far as possible.
