National Theatre smash hit drama, 'The Rise and Fall Of Little Voice' by Jim Cartwright, is to return to the West End.
Nica Burns and Nimax Theatres Ltd are to open a brand new, rewritten production in one of its larger theatres in October/November.
Casting is expected to come from open auditions instead of looking for a name for the part of 'Little Voice'. The part of the mother, created by Alison Steadman on stage and Brenda Blethyn in the not so brilliant movie, will be cast with a name!
The original opened at the National Theatre in 1992 and was a complete and utter success with tickets selling out within hours of its opening. Producer, Micheal Codron then negotiated for an immediate transfer to his Aldwcyh Theatre. It played there again to sell out business until the run was ended due to Alison Steadman being unable to continue due to filming contracts and that Mr Codron already had a show booked in to follow.
It played in the West End for 112 sell out performances from Oct 1992 until Feb 1993.
It will be interesting to see how Jim Cartwright 'updates' the play for this new production.
