Wonderfulwizard11 is right. Since Jennifer Hudson is doing 'The Color Purple' on Broadway I do not think she will have time to do this unless she makes a special appearance like Minnie Driver did in 'Peter Pan Live'.

Last I heard, they were shooting for THE MUSIC MAN with names like Justin Timberlake and Kristen Bell but that they had back-up options in place (such as THE WIZ) if they could not attract the right talent to a property like THE MUSIC MAN.
Alison Williams was just a sop to her father Brian Williams, which in hindsight was beyond irony with how his exalted star status fell at NBC.
Would any network now put her in the lead of any live musical? It was iffy that NBC did it to begin with even with the inhouse network nepotism.

How perfect The Drowsy Chaperone is....yes, it's not an American classic, but it has the perfect roles for star names that would attract viewers.

I can assure you they will not be doing The Drowsy Chaperone. Ever.
I'm really rooting for THE WIZ, but if they can get names like Justin Timberlake to do THE MUSIC MAN, more power to them!

I would love to see Kristen Bell in Music Man. I would thought they would have offered Marian to Kelli though.

I don't know about the others, but I do know Cinderella and Annie were very successful and received multiple Emmy nominations.
I think it'll be The Wiz.

The Wiz was confirmed and it'll be produced in collaboration with Cirque du Soleil's new theatrical division.

Ah, well. Looks like they couldn't get who they wanted for MM. The Wiz it is.

Darn! I was really hoping for Music Man. I'll try very hard to keep an open mind about The Wiz, though.
