Pan was far from a catastrophe, it lost some momentum from the previous year, but in the eyes of several it was a small hit. However, if the Live musical continues they will need to make some large internal changes. New direction, etc.

So, Gavin Creel on Seth Speaks suggests that NBC is doing The Music Man and that the part of Harold Hill has been cast by someone who would generate huge ratings. But, he didn't identify the person. But, Seth knew of whom Gavin spoke - so it must be a pretty open secret?

Why would Gavin Creel have insider knowledge on the production? Perhaps, he'll be part of the project too?

Music Man would be a huge bore and a lost opportunity.
If Harold Hill is in fact someone who will "generate huge ratings", perhaps it will indeed be NPH?

"and that the part of Harold Hill has been cast by someone who would generate huge ratings."
I can reveal that Harold Hill will be played by Barbra Streisand in her Yentl costume. Her Seventy-Six Trombones will be equal to her Before The Parade Passes By.

It truly would be a shame if it's The Music Man, and not The Wiz. Simple put: The Wiz is just more interesting, and it's the better option.
If there is any truth to this rumor, I hope the producers change their mind before it's too late. I'll still tune in anyway...I was just *really* excited by the thought of The Wiz! They should just give it a chance!

I listened to Seth Speaks too and although Seth *pretended to sneeze* when Gavin said he knew who was playing Harold Hill he actually quite obviously said "Neil Patrick Harris." I don't think Gavin's involved though, didn't seem that way - I think he's just friends with Neil.

NBC has decided to do "110 In The Shade" with Brian Williams as H.C. Curry and Allison Williams as Lizzy.

Agreed.

Possible announcement tomorrow! They're currently finalizing plans according to the BWW article and the producers' tweets.

Honestly, I'm not really sure MUSIC MAN or THE WIZ is the best way to go. The WIZ would be much more exciting however. But really, as long as it's not something we have seen countless times like CINDERELLA, I'll be happy. Oh and Neil Patrick Harris can't be in it either.

I really hope it's The Wiz. I want a new cast recording. There's only 2 (broadway & movie) The Music Man has a bunch. I find The Music Man really boring.. the story & the music (except for 'Till There Was You' by Kristin Chenoweth)

Well, I'm hoping for Matthew Perry as Matthew Perry.

I'd rather see THE WIZ, honestly, but I wouldn't mind THE MUSIC MAN.

I'm hoping it's "The Wiz" because of these reasons...
1. It's easier to cast
2. It has a pop sound that would appeal to audiences more
and
3. My mom is hoping that this years musical is NOT one that makes her feel old. "The Wiz" would make her feel old but not too old.

If it is indeed Music Man, is it too early to start crossing our fingers for Laura Osnes to play Marian?

I've never been a fan of the film adaptation of 'The Wiz'. However, I am willing to give a live televised performance a chance. I've never seen the musical on stage before, so it would be a new experience. Jennifer Hudson would be a brilliant Glinda. I think Queen Latifah should play Evillene. Plus, Keke Palmer would make a perfect Dorothy.

Even though he recently extended his Aladdin contract into February 2016, I still would love to see James Monroe Iglehart as The Lion.
