"What more can I say?" from Falsettos.
Falsettos was the first Broadway show I saw on my first-ever trip to New York in 1992. I didn't know a lot about the show, but I had seen the cast perform The Baseball Song on the Tony Awards the month before and knew this was a show I wanted to see. It played at the John Golden Theatre and it was quite thrilling to be seeing an original Broadway cast in a show right in the heart of the theatre district. A memorable time for me.

I have not participated thusfar, but happened to click on this one.
Being Alive, from Company.
The show changed my world. And it was a very specific moment during Being Alive when I realized that I had fallen completely in love with it. I'll never forget that. Theater and life would never be the same again.

Rose's Turn from Gypsy. First show I sneaked out of state to see, and Peters' rendition of Turn shattered my stupid preteen heart.

There's actually so many shows that have done this for me...
My first show was Les Mis at 7, and "I Dreamed a Dream" moved me for the first time in the theater (as did several other numbers from the show)
I think "Cabaret" was an important show in my theatergoing experience as well, as it represented my break into 'adult' musicals, and the song "Cabaret" probably represents that very well. (It was probably the best revival I'd ever seen and I had the good fortune to see the complete original cast at the Kit Kat Klub, aka Henry Miller's Theater.)

Posted: 4/23/11 at 5:06pmThis may sound weird, but here me out--I first became interested in musicals in 2006 when I heard the cast album of The Wedding Singer, and I just thought it was such a fun show. It started my obsession with musicals, although it's definitely far from the best show I've ever seen. So, I'll say "Someday" from The Wedding Singer.

Seasons of Love - Rent.
Nothing specific about the lyrics in the song, it just happens to be my favorite song from the musical that made me fall in love with theatre.

"Light", next to normal
Never before had I seen a musical that did more than entertain me; this one touched my soul. I'll never forget sitting in the Booth that day.

"People Will Say We're In Love" from Oklahoma! because it's the first show I worked on and that show convinced me that I had to work in theater.
And, as a spectator, "The Scottsboro Boys" from The Scottsboro Boys for changing my life as a theater-goer.

So, Anyway from next to normal.
It was so parallel to watching my dad leaving with a suitcase, unbeknownst to me that my parents were divorcing.

the opening from Titanic.
First show I ever saw, and I was just in awe when I saw it, and I knew right then and there that I wanted to be an actor.

Although it would REALLY be Into The Woods, I will abstain and say...
"Bring Him Home" - Les Miserables (The first time one of the 80s "Mega-Musicals" really got me. I'd seen POTO before and loved it, but it didn't affect me the way Les Mis did.)

Oops, now I've missed a day...
"Cabaret" from Cabaret. One of the first musicals I saw live (in a regional production), but it got me hooked on the whole genre of musicals.
