I have and, what can I say, it's all very subjective. I think most would favor the one they see first.
My personal choice is Milly Shapiro. She's looks like a tiny adult who has been seriously f-ed up by her parents. I felt the show was a lot darker with her.

Posted: 7/21/13 at 8:28pmInteresting. I have seen all but Sophia. I do think Milly is very different than Oona and Bailey. I personally enjoy Bailey the best as I think she is the best actress, but I so agree with your thoughts on Milly. I think she might play it closest to character. They are all brilliant for their age.

I have not seen all four but the usher in the theater that I was chatting with the night I went seemed to feel the concensus among the ushers who see the show all the time is that Bailey is the best Matilda. Actually he said..."well I could never pick just one, but unofficially, between you and me, you are here on the best day."
I saw Bailey. I felt she was ok. I had a particularly hard time understanding her during her storytelling....I just gave up and went with the mood. But she was a good little actress for much of the show. I am sort of most interested to catch Sophia as she seems like a little spit-fire to me.
I would like to see the others at some point..if I ever win the lottery..LOL

Posted: 7/22/13 at 8:58ami saw Milly as well. we sat in the first row and BLAXX is right, she seems like a little adult! She has a certain sadness in her eyes that make you think she must have had a very sad life that works perfectly for the character

I have, and I think they're all great on a certain level that won't make anyone regret they didn't see another Matilda. Personally my favorite was Sophia, with Milly as a close second. Sophia's the youngest and in my opinion has the most 'raw' acting style in that I feel like I'm watching a child literally go through the events in the story rather than 'act' it out. Does that make sense? Milly's expressions are amazing and she's the loudest out of them all.
But I'd definitely say Bailey and Oona are great as well and add their own individual qualities and quirks to the character!

Posted: 7/24/13 at 4:24pmhow amazing would it be, if during the summer, at least a few times, they all did the show together! the first act, the 2 girls, then 2nd act the other 2? I bet people would pay top $$ for that. i know i would!

All four are supposed to be on Kelly and Michael's morning show on Friday singing Naughty together, as the 4 London girls did at the Olivier awards.
It's Broadway week on the morning show. Today, Kelly sang with the cast of Cinderella and Michael will be with Kinky Boots tomorrow. They did Pippin and Motown on Mon/Tues but I found out too late to watch it.

The Kinky Boots (Th) and Cinderella (F) excerpts were fun - I look forward to seeing the four Matilda's on Live with Kelly and Michael tomorrow.

I think after seeing all four of them... it makes me want to see ALL FOUR of them in the show...I don't find myself picking favorites as much as I find myself interested in what they do with the role.

I've seen both Milly and Sophia and thought Milly was incredible and Sophia was average at best.
I am curious to see Oona and Bailey but knowing my luck every time I go back I'll keep seeing Milly and Sophia.

Posted: 7/27/13 at 1:07pmI watched the Live performance and, wow, what a boring song. Not sure if it's because it was out of context, but that would not make me want to see the show.

Posted: 7/27/13 at 3:39pm...and that's why there are different opinions. "Naughty" was the first song I heard from the show a few years back (with the London Cast Recording) and it was a big part of what made me want to see the show. I think it's an amazing song about changing your own future and not relying on others in your life to do it for you. Listen to the lyrics.

Yes, of courses, everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion.
And I am not an overall fan of a lot of the music of Matilda. But I love Naughty. It's definitely one of my favorite songs in the show and I had been hoping the four NYC girls would sing the song together - as the four British girls did in London.
I also think this particular staging/dividing the song with the four Matildas (the same they did in London) is just so much fun. I almost wish there were actually 4 Matildas IN the show so I could see the number this way.
Of course, the London version is amazing as it's done on a big stage with a full orchestra (with camera-persons that knew who to showcase). But I very much enjoyed this performance too...and was wishing they did this at the Tony's...as the London girls did at their Olivier awards.

Posted: 8/18/13 at 11:23pmI have seen both Milly and Bailey live- and a bootleg of Oona. Milly has the best voice- hands down- and Bailey is the best actress. Oona has a quirck to her that I like- but isn't too strong in voice or acting. Sophia is supposed to be energetic and funny. I don't really like her voice though.
