OK, enough is enough.
That logo is NOT fantastic, or even close.
It's squiggly yellow writing on a black background for crissakes. It makes the PUTTING IT TOGETHER marquee look like a f*cking Hirschfeld or David Byrd.
I really, REALLY don't get the fanboy like attention this show gets around here, though of course this post will stir up the pot again with all the TAF defenders, but really... Really?!
It's yellow writing on a black backround and some banners of reprinted cartoons from 40 years ago. I mean, really. Really?

You've already trashed the score and book, though you haven't seen the show. Now you are choosing to ridicule the show's key art, which is NOT just squiggly writing -- it's a direct allusion to Charles Addams's signature in whose style the title has been rendered. And the full key art includes the timeless characters, in their original execution, upon which the show is based. That seems pretty darn appropriate to me -- maybe not flashy, but definitely tasteful and a reasonable artistic approach for this material. Why are you so resentful of any shred of praise for this show even as you lob such vitriol towards it at every turn?

The only agenda I have is against crappy books and crappy scores ( particularly for musical subjects that have the potential to be entertaining, iconic, even classic).
Add crappy logos to that list.
And the TAF brigade appears, like clockwork, as predicted...

Isn't it hard to base how you feel about a show without actually seeing it. But as always, those who through out instant criticism themselves are those who have issues with their own lives.

Hardly a member of the brigade -- haven't even seen the show yet. Oh wait. Neither have you.
As I've said, my opinion may match yours after Sunday when I've seen the show.
But the extent of your hatred of everything this show offers up smacks of something more than just your evaluation of the quality of the work -- and that's what I object to, even without knowing if I agree with your opinion (devoid of all the attitude with which it is offered).
Even if the FOH is not to your liking, the snarkiness with which you express your negative opinion is just plain obnoxious. Really? Really.

Pgenre if you knew anything about THE ADDAMS FAMILY you would have instantly recognized that the logo is a replica of ADDAMS FAMILY creator Charles Addams' own handwriting. That is how he wrote out the title of his strip. It's done as a homage to him.

PERIOD.
I will not respond to the question of if or if I have not seen it as I have not criticized anything but the book and score and how the performers handle that material. I will not give you the satisfaction to know that I have actually seen it because I hold the directors and designers in high regard and believe they will get the show together for NY. The score and book, on the other hand, are hopeless, but the design and performances may get to a good enough level by NY that they overshadow that, though with each day I become less hopeful.
And I officially hang up my TAF hat.
Enjoy the banality, darlings! It's just like WICKED 2 except Schwartz would probably write at least one memorable, if not decent, song!

The names Frederico Fellini, Rob Marshall, Daniel Day Lewis, Sophia Loren, Judi Dench, Marion Cotillard, Dion Beebe, Colleen Atwood, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Fergie, Maury Yeston, etc. speak for themselves.
Not everything can be as illustrious as Brickman, Elice and Lippa, I suppose. Oh, and a miscast Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuworth (if she isn't replaced by the time it gets to NY).

You're right. You don't need to defend it. But if you're unnecessarily snarky and hyper-critical -- of a show you admit not having seen and of a show that whose score has not been published and whose score has not been recorded (despite your claim to be VERY knowledgeable about both) -- then you can expect to be called on it.
Whether you choose to defend yourself is entirely up to you. I, for one, would be delighted if you didn't and instead just stayed quiet as you've now said you will. Best news I've had all day. :)
