Posted: 2/15/11 at 6:00pmDude. You need to relax. In the grand scheme of life this is hardly a big deal.

Well, even though you didn't get Bebe or Nathan, how were Becca and Nathan? Becca's relatively new. And who ever asked if Jessica Lea Patty was going to be on at all, she left to do People in the Picture. Stephanie Gibson Chase now covers Morticia and is in JLP's flapper dancestor track.
Did JLP ever go on as Morticia? I know she went on as Wednesday quite a few times. And has Cortney Wolfson gone on, yet?

Posted: 2/15/11 at 8:31pmWell, when Lea Michelle can't do the Funny Girl revival, Becca should be the first person they call, that's all I'm saying.

Posted: 2/16/11 at 4:54pmCoincidentally, Cortney Wolfson was on as Wednesday last night. Was that her first?

Posted: 2/16/11 at 5:20pmI have to say, in defense of the OP, that when they do that single-file line that goes down the block (usually at shows that are very popular with tourists) it takes FOREVER to get seated.

Posted: 2/16/11 at 6:32pmMaybe it's just me, but I wonder, from what others have posted, why a theatre would line their patrons up single file and then start the show before everyone was seated?

There are ways to find out and actor/actress' vacation dates- It was a well known fact that last week was Bebe's SCHEDULED and PUBLICIZED vacation.
If it meant that much to you, you should have done research.
The production and the staff at the Lunt-Fontaine did nothing wrong and complied with Equity rules.
And I am SICK and TIRED of people beating up Nathan when he misses a show or two JUST because it happened to be a/the show they had tickets for. He is human and has the right to take a night or two off, take a vacation or Heaven forbid get ill. He has a GREAT attendance record other than his throat ailment during his Tony winning run in THE PRODUCERS and I THINK only half a performance when he fell through a trap door during THE FROGS due to the negligence of a stagehand.
I love Nathan and Bebe. I love the show. I would not let it ruin the rest of my life if one of the many times I have seen the show one or both of them were out.
I see a show for a show, not an actor. I love certain performers, yes, but I see PHANTOM to see PHANTOM, not a certain person in a certain role.

It takes two seconds to open a Playbill and read the understudy slips. Regardless, it is not the theater's fault. Did you bother to check the understudy board during intermission to at least see if they posted it? From the way you describe the scenario, it sounds as if it was chaotic prior to the show (especially since it took forever for you to get seated). You probably missed the understudy board.
Lesson learned: don't plan trips to a show you don't care much about just to see a specific actor. Especially if you are coming from five hours away, this can be a hassle. If you want to see someone specific, at least do some research to see if a planned vacation has been announced. Never assume, and then try to blame others when you don't get your way.
