Dude, calm down. The vast majority of Broadway shows send out a mailer with a small code to get word of mouth. Similarly, I saw Come From Away the first week of previews on TDF, and the first preview of Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway, 2nd row center mezzanine for $35 on Stubhub. Band's Visit isn't taking over the world.

I don't remember DEH, but Hamilton did not. Tickets were selling like hotcakes from the moment they went on sale. Heck, even when it was off bway, each of the extentions went within a few hours.
That's why I say it's too early. Shows will first hope people will buy tickets because of interest, if/when the producers realize that sales aren't strong "enough", then they'll offer discounts.

I know Hamilton didnt.
I know Book of Mormon had NY discounts before previews started.

I don't think there were any discounts for DEH or
hamilton, but I do remember DEH was on the TKTS board during previews.

I've been waiting for a discount code, too, but finally just bought a pair of tickets. I'm hopeful that at least preview performances will pop up on TDF (a la Come From Away as VotePeron mentioned) before it really gains some steam after it opens.

There was a pre-sale for Public members, but not discounts. Well, if you bought them in that first batch, it's pretty much like you got a discounted ticket in hindsight.

How likely do you guys think it will be for them to announce a rush policy that starts during previews? I'm going to be in NYC the third week of October, and I'd love to see this show, but I'm wondering if I should just purchase a full-priced ticket beforehand, or if I should wait and see if they announce a rush policy.

@Melanie73 My guess based on nothing more than vague intuition is that you will still be able to buy tickets in person when you come in October. So the question becomes, do you want to take a chance that there will be a rush and you'll get a cheaper seat, or do you want to have to pay for a TKTS ticket or a full price ticket but without the benefit of as much choice since you'll most likely be buying same day tickets?

I was able to see The Book of Mormon front mezzanine during previews for a discount. I was a subscriber to the Public, and I was able to buy a $70 third row ticket to Hamilton in the fall before anybody knew what Hamilton was going to be. I bought it based on my recognition of the composer. I had guessed it was going to be similar to Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson that I had seen at the Public in a previous season that I didn't care for. By showtime, I could have sold my ticket for $200 if I had felt like it. I am sorry I didn't buy a discounted ticket to Come Fly Away.

Yup, Mormon did & they were great deals- 57 or so for great Orchestra seats.
As I recall, the codes were pulled within the first few days of previews too.
