this is Dan from the videos again...To be in NYC...I was supposed to go with my friends who were driving there...they ended up leaving me at home..so I went to a greyhound station at 4 pm to catch a 6pm bus to NYC. I went all the way alone and sat in NYC for 6 hrs waiting for them to get there.. 6 hrs was a long time to wait in the bus station. rent has totally changed my philosophy on life.

I knew that this was going to happen, and while I kinda wish that I had been able to be there that day to submit an entry, I'm pretty sure that I'm not at all what they are looking for.

I won't post the reasons why, since a) there have been threads for that, and b) I don't want this to turn into a "ZOMG liek this is why I should have been there and would have won", but I will say this. One of my dearest friends went to go see Rent many years ago.

When she saw the show, she was married (rather unhappily).

Within a year, she got a divorce and has since blossomed.

If you ask me, THAT's the kind of impact that deserves to be recognized. Not this.

Meh. Many of the people in the videos are defineatley (sp?) not RENTheads. Especially the Idina girls. Now I love RENT, wouldn't consdier my self the biggest fan, by NO means, but I have more to say than "I have seen it 50 times and I love Idina. Yes, Idina got me into RENT, but she sn't the reason why I love it. So yeah basically everything you guys just said. :)
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

it's just sad. I know there are people out there even if they arent the 'ultimate renthead' but that diserve to go more then those people do. I'll say that about 3 people maybe diserved to go on the site but if I would've went I would have won by a long shot. I had prepared what I was gonna say and everything haha and I thought people would have done the same. I was expecting someone to talk about Jonathan Larson and how RENT has changed you. I just think that its sad that for a show that has such a large fanbase THOSE are the biggest fans? And can I just say that crazy Idina fans are reallyyyy starting to get to me. Get them off the camera.

You can see the show once and still be a big fan. Say you live in a place where the tour never comes, and not near B'way.

Honestly, there is not such thing as a biggest fan.

And for the safety and sanity of (mainly Idina and Adam) and the rest of the cast, I would vote for the least freakish...

The people:

- Nice cow suit buddy. I would vote for you, but ya called it a soundtrack.

- Lindsay - you're pretty. It's great you have seen the show so much, BUT, the Idina Menzel love doesn't fly when you're talking about RENT. (And if your dad is so uppity in the biz, have him get you tix).

- "We're here to meet Idina Menzel" OK, that makes you an Idina fan. Last time I checked, Idina isn't Rent.

- Man with scarf, that was deep(er). And you reminded me I need a new scarf. So maybe you.

- You saw it twice and it changed your life? Tell us why! BKLYN changed some people's lives ya know.

- Rent lifts you up when you're down? Crazy. And anyone who says Idina's name, without mentioning the rest of the cast BY name, forget it.

- Bore me much? But you same san(er)(ish)...and you're from Ohio, so I guess I feel bad for you. Maybe you (Dan)

- Alright, Pocahontas, you didn't look at the camera. You gonna do that when you meet the cast?

- Alright, Greg, you kept it real and said how you feel.

- "We were in second grade when we first saw it. That's why we're the biggest fans." So?

- David - you got the ADD? Movin' so much you makin' me dizzy, son!

- JoLiz, well, ya didn't say Idina - and you're stickin' with the D-bird. Fo' real.

In the end, I will vote for Kyle...

... sometimes I wonder what the criteria was for selecting entrants. Anyway, I voted Kyle for the "normal factor".

And I join the people praying for next week's group to be better. Heh. Optimist me is thinking, "Well, maybe this was the B group and they're saving the A group for next week."

Hey guys, you don't know these people and have to realize that what they are saying doesn't 100 percent reflect their feelings about the show. Also understand that they probably had next to little or no time to come up with something brilliant to say- So they were probably pretty excited and explained as much as they could and the BEST they could why they love RENT.

I'm speaking on behalf of LINDSAY- She is a very close friend of mine who attends the Professional Performing Arts School in NYC with me. I'm begging you to believe me when I say that this girl is the BIGGEST Renthead I have ever met. She is so loyally devoted to keeping the Rent spirit alive and is truly inspired by this show. As you can hear, she has seen it 42 times and will keep going back until the day she can longer walk. Everything in her personal collection of normal necesseties is covered in Rent pride. Notebooks, wallets, agendas, binders, tape recorders, ect. And she does care about the cast immensely which is why she has grown to know them so much. It's what sets her apart from most fans. She loves Rent with all of her heart and is deeply moved by the themes of the musical. Plus, she does a KILLER rendition of "Take Me or Leave Me"- really tears it up! Trust me in my recommendation to VOTE FOR LINDSAY!

Well, I almost did vote for Lindsay-I could tell she's really devoted to RENT. But...I don't know, "I love Idina Menzel" sort of threw me off.

I know I'm an idiot for voting for the one who saw it twice, but she didn't seem as much like a screaming fangirl as the rest. Also she's from Cinci!

you guys are surprised that all the people they interviewed are obsessed with Idina when they found their entrants at a concert and early morning tv appearance? I think teens and tweens are the ones more likely to go to such appearances- I mean, if theres an a huge Rent fan who has grown with the show, theyre probably 30-ish and have a job to go to and couldnt make it to these events which were geared to the younger crowd to begin with. besides, most adults I know feel they have no chance at winning these types of contests or that theyre all fake scams. going to the premiere might be nice but meeting the cast might not be the biggest deal to someone who has probably already met them seeing the show 1200 times...

But not all younger Rent fans got interested in the show only because they loved Idina in Wicked. I just think a lot of these people are deluding themselves into thinking that being a huge Idina fan makes them a Rent fan just because she's in the movie.

I just watched all the videos of the RENTheads. I give them all credit for going on camera and saying how they feel. I read everyone's posts, and I see that most people are voting for Kyle. I think he was very good, however, he never really explained why he is the ultimate RENThead. I mean, that is what this contest is all about. He just said some stuff about wanting to be part of it, which everyone who is a RENThead can contest to. So, I don't think I'm going to vote for him. I wish I could have been there to say why I might be the ultimate RENThead because I think I would have had some goods reasons to back me up. Unfortunately, I couldn't get to NYC that day. Those "IDINA CRAZY" girls needed to calm down. Idina is a main component of RENT, but not the entire thing. They definitely can't be considered the ultimate RENTheads.

I think out of the videos posted this week, Greg is the most deserving of the title ultimate RENThead. So, I am going to vote for him. He didn't boast about how many times he saw RENT (unlike Lindsay) and it seemed like RENT really affected him. He seemed the most sincere and honest out of all of them. It seemed as if he embodied part of the message of RENT.

I guess we'll just see what happens.

Idina = Broadway Voldermort.

But anyway...Mistress, I did expect it. But I expected more "OMG I LOVE RENT" type things than soley Idina.

And I am sure they are all very nice people, but if the competition was "Why should you meet Idina?" I'd say I'd vote for those two who, I am pretty sure, thought they were going to party with Idina.

Anyway, I will most definitely vote for someone who mentions Fredi's name. I dunno how, but that's definitely two points.

(Actually, I got into a fight with the Submit button when I voted. so either I didn't vote, or I voted for Kyle, or I voted for Kyle 20 something times...let's round it to 42 re: The Biggest Rent Fan?.....)

Thenardier-totally agree with you. Idina's great, but anyone who only "loves" Rent just because of her, isn't the biggest Renthead in my mind. In the end, I voted for Colleen and Rachael (although I'm noticing no one else did). I think they mentioned Idina once, but they only touched on it, as if to say she's the first one who came to mind, and they respect her. But they focused on the message, and what it means to them, instead of just being like, "I like it, the end." My second choice was Kyle, he also understood the message. I'm sorry to those of you on this board I didn't vote for! All the entrys were great, it's cool how many people are Rentheads.
