The ones who say "we love Idina" started to listen to RENT after they saw Wicked, lol.
Ooo, Katie has seen RENT twice. That is AMAZING!
I voted for Greg.

Well, I finally got to vote and watch the videos. I voted for Kyle because he wasn't like..."I LOVE IDINA! I'VE SEEN RENT (insert number here) times!" Although I liked Lindsay, "I love Idina" threw me off.
Those two girls with the I Love Idina poster are CRAZY.
For me it was between Dan and Kyle because them seemed the most sane and actually liked the show for its message, but I chose Kyle because:
~He flew up to see the Today show (and I KNOW how hard that is)
~He wasn't crazy (a good quality if he meet the cast)
~And bonus points for wearing a Mark scarf

I voted for Kyle.
Partly because of the awesome Mark scarf, but also because he seemed to just most embody the message of RENT as a person.
My second choice would be Greg.

I also was incredibly disappointed... anyone who's only seen it a single digit amount of times is nowhere near a Renthead... and anyone who even mentioned Idina's name I refused to vote for. I love Idina but this is about the show, not just her. I hope noone votes for anyone who specifically mentioned her name. The contest calls for the ultimate renthead... not the most pyschotic Idina fan...
While I agree with a lot that's been said on this thread, I don't think it's really fair to make such snap judgements like "there's no way you can be a legit Renthead if your viewings aren't into the double digits." I feel like that's just a really shallow way to try to quantify things, when this is something that shouldn't have a true formula, so to speak.
Yes, but most of the people the videos named the number of times they'd seen the show as a qualifer for being the biggest Renthead. I completely agree with you that there isn't a specific formula to obsessive fanhood, but since most of the entries didn't go into anything but a specific number, there's only so much there to judge them by.
Now we should get into the real issue: What kind of parents would take their second grader to see Rent?
The bigger question: what kind of parents would take a SIX-year-old to see Rent?

I agree with Emcee.
So what if you haven't seen the show 500000 times? (not everyone is blessed enough to live in New York or have a ton of disposable income). Shouldn't this be more about how RENT has affected lives and touched people?
edit: And I agree about these 6/7 year olds going to RENT. Even if the subject matter wasn't completely inappropriate for children that age, they certainly would never be able to understand or appreciate the show!!
My guess is most of those kids are exaggerating and discovered RENT all of two years ago.
I agree with that point, emcee. I guess I would just expecting someone more like the rentheads I knew 6, 7, 8 years ago. I wish they had spoken more of how it impacted them rather than, "I know every word."
Off topic: I am new to this board. What is with the Idina junkies? I love Idina, don't get me wrong, but a great deal of her fans seem obsessive. Is there a secret club for Idinaheads that I don't know about?
Right, exactly. I don't think impact can be measured by a number, after a certain degree. But then again, when stuck in a situation like that, where you have a few seconds to try to sell yourself, maybe that's what you resort to; my numbers aren't really high enough for me to have used them, so I like to think I'd have behaved differently, you know? I mean, five is nothing compared to forty-two, or a thousand, or whatever. I ran into the camera people when they were trying to get more entrants, and was just sort of like "no thanks, I'm not what you're looking for."
I WISH it were secret, heh.

I think the Idina problem isn't so much Idina but that much of her fame has come from "Wicked". The whole Wicked show just appeals so highly to little tweens that it's become a bit of a fad, and along with that, created obsessive Idina fanaticism.

I'm from OHIO and I hate it when people say "Oh you cant be a RENThead if you haven't seen it at least 10 times" because ALOT of people cant make it there to see the show every week. I saw the show when it first started and I was really young. I loved it but my parents wouldnt take me back. I've only been able to go see it again recently. Does it make me any less of a RENThead?
Favourite Part: The Wicked Playbill on the "I love Idina" sign at a RENT concert.

Yeah, that was really funny, Defying. And I could've made that poster myself. In fact, a lot of people can make a poster. :P
I was disapointed with those videos too! They all basically said the same thing! I voted for Kyle, he seemed the most likeable. I don't think people should not be considered RENTheads just because they havn't seen the musical more than twice. I've only seen it once because I'm not fortunate enough to live in NYC. ANd believe me, I am obsessed with RENT.
I definitley voted Kyle...I like how he said he just wishes he could be a part of it.
Wow, those were different than I expected. There were only three I would even consider voting for, and I haven't voted yet. I certainly don't consider myself the biggest RENThead by ANY means, but I love the show and the message, etc. I DO love the cast as well, and I am an Idina fan, but that is by no means the reason I love the show. I agree that people need to delve deeper. I can think of a speech right now that is better than most of those. Hopefully the next ones will be more...fulfilling.

Thanks keggs... that is really sweet.
I definitely expected better RENTheads... I know that sounds really unfair of me to say, but I know that there are more RENT fans that are dedicated to this show and have been for the past 10 years. I know that I am not talking about myself, for I am new RENThead compared to those... but I just don't understand why there is such slim pickings for a chance to go to a premiere. Maybe it's just this week... hopefully things will start to look up.

Honestly, I was sorta surprised by the people on the voting page. I just assumed they would all be people who have seen the show like 50 times. Of course, there's nothing wrong with the people who got on, but I was just surprised. Anyway, I voted for Kyle. He seemed very sincere and he wasn't like "I love Idina," or "Please vote for me." He just seemed like he really appreciated the show and was very sincere and real. I liked that. I think that makes a true fan for anything....someone who truly appreciates the work and is not just going through a phase

i voted kyle.
i was really dissapointed in all the "rentheads" ahh, c'mon, i'm such a bigger renthead! it really made me mad that all of them were like "OMG IDINA IS AMAZING" well so is anthony! and tracie! and rosario! and jesse! and wilson! and taye! and adam! rawr! i picked kyle cuz mark is my absolute fave, and he took the time to get/make the scarf. hehe
but c'mon! there weren't any squeals, screams, or tears. that's what i was expecting. awww man i wish i could have been there-i so would have won.
haha
I personally can't understand how people can *afford* to be RENTheads.
Let's just play pretend and assume that Idina Stalker #4150 has rushed every single rent show he/she has seen. I'm assuming that to qualify as a, "true obsessor," one has to at least be in the 40s (which, I'm sure, is still quite low).
Simple math: $20 times 40. Answer? $800.
Now I realize that's not a lot for your average person, even for your average teenager. But these are the obsessed; they'll see the show with or without rushing.
So, an average RENT ticket (ok seats) is what, $50? 40 times 50 is... $2,000.
And the good seats? $100. $100 times 40 is $4,000
So to be even borderline obsessed, you have to be spending -- at least -- $800 on RENT, though that actual number is likely around the $1500-$3000 range. And that's just for 40 shows. I don't even want to think about what the truly insane spend.
