re: The Bodyguard: The Musical

I just can't see a huge demand for this idea. The film was popular for its stars, not its story and it certainly hasn't sustained as an enduring classic film. The song was a hit, but it's not enough to justify a stage transfer. I think they need to go back to the drawing board if a film transfer is what they want and find something with either a better, or more clever story (a colorful setting and era often help), or a more universally beloved classic. The Bodyguard is none of these.

Isn't the movie soundtrack the highest grossing soundtrack of all time?

I'm truly scared by the possibility of this being onstage.
I can just hear the repetitive "I Will Always Love You" theme throughout the orchestrations...blach.

I'll be interested in seeing this being pulled off on stage

Why does every mediocure movie get a musical makeover treatment lately?
This sound like a great project for Britney, or don't let sleeping dogs lie re: The Bodyguard: The Musical

re: The Bodyguard: The Musical

I dunno...there were rumours about a remake of the film with Rihanna starring.

I think that would be more welcome than a stage show, yes its ANOTHER remake of a 'classic' but if they did go with Rihanna it would go down a far grittier and modern route with her style of music coming through...rather than it being a semi-cheesy romantic film with her butchering 'I Will Always Love You' etc. cus lets face it, that girl does not have the chops to pull that off what so ever.

I don't imagine the stage show being any good because its quite dated, and everyone going would want to hear a 'new Whitney' then be disappointed when she wasn't. 'I Will Always Love You' would probably be a cringe worthy karaoke fest that you'd see most of the audience get all excited about when it began and sing along awfully.
