ok, interesting thread. i have seen bom twice with the same elder price - not original cast. one of my favorite shows ever. brilliant book.
here's my concern. i am wondering if Hello is lip synched. it is just too perfect, and it seems it is exactly like the recording. i know it would be very difficult for the actor to time his mouth perfectly to his own "hello" but still i wonder.
the first time i saw it "I believe" seemed too perfect. it is such a difficult song to sing. it seemed effortless - i know - that's their job but he is second cast for gosh sakes. the second time i saw him i did believe he was actually singing.
so i am wondering but -leaning on the side of them actually doing all the singing live. thoughts?
Hello is not lip-synced- it is simply a complex number carefully timed.
The only lip-syncing in Book of Mormon, as far as I know, is when a character lip-syncs to a recorded voice bit by Trey Parker or Matt Stone, the show's creators and South Park voice artists.
It's live.
Some of the Ugandan ensemble is there to sweeten "Hello" and "Turn It Off," but no, there is no lip-synching.
yes, those obvious lip synchs of the historic characters are hilarious. "I am Moroni". lol
I know for an absolutely positive fact that Elder Greene does the big long "HEEELLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

Umm, at the Tony's Elder Greene did it.
Rory O'Malley plays Elder Green.
Benjamin Schrader plays Elder White.
Benjamin Schrader performed on the Tonys and, as he always does, sang "HELLLOOOOOO!"
Ben and Rory look nothing alike and are also nowhere near each other in the staging of Hello.
Your logic is a mess.
Try again.
In Two By Two (and Africa in general):
Elder McKinley - Rory O'Malley
Elder Church - Clark Johnsen (?)
Elder Michaels - Jason Michael Snow (?)
Elder Thomas - Scott Barnhardt
Elder Neeley - Kevin Duda
Elder Davis - Brian Sears
Elder Schrader - Ben Schrader
Elder Zelder - Justin Bohon
Lol, none of those elders are in Two by Two. After just listening to the song on my iPod, these are the elders in Two by Two:
Elder Price
Elder Cunningham
Elder Young
Elder Grant
Elder White
Elder Smith
Elder Cross
Elder Greene/Green (which spelling?)
Elder Harris
Elder Brown
It's Green, according to the published book and lyrics.
Also, I'm so glad you acknowledged your mistake! You're welcome.
LizzieCurry, I made a mistake. I apologize.
Jeesh.
I love that there is an Elder ben Widmar.
And oy, does he make a cute Mormon!
While we're on the subject, does anyone know who is doing the Solos in "Spooky Mormon Hell dream? Is the whole cast in this number (including Cunningham and Nabalungi?)

No. Cunningham used to be in it, in previews, but he's not anymore. Nabulungi never was.
Mafala = Johnnie Cochran
Elder Neeley = Hitler
Elder Schrader/ben Widmar = Dahmer
Kalimba = Genghis Khan
The General = Satan
The "You remember Lucifer!" "He is even spookier!" lines are Tommar Wilson and Lawrence Stallings (the Ghali/Middala tracks).

Actually, in "I Am Africa," Schrader is the rhino. Barnhardt is the meerkat.
Another thing I would like to point out is a mistake I noticed In Two by Two. Elder Harris and Elder Brown are never given their locations. The voice calls them, then Elder Price sings his verse about how he wants to go Orlando, Flroida, and him and Elder Cunningham are called up. Did they just forget about Elder Harris and Elder Brown?
I'm sure they're given their locations while Price is singing his aside. The audience just doesn't hear it.

Yes, Harris and Brown receive their locations, during Price's aside. If you watch, they slowly jump up and down with excitement.
Oh, ok. I didn't know because I have never seen the show. I Am just going off the cast recording and YouTube videos. I'm waiting for the tour to come to my area.
It's like Elle's graduation speech. While Paulette is doing her "where are they now?" bit, the character Elle is still giving a speech.
Chris Rice is joining the cast tomorrow, anyone know who he is replacing?
EDIT: He announced that he's a swing.
