Funding not signatures make these filmings possible. Obviously, the producers of this production are fully aware of its historical contribution as they are the ones who brought it to Broadway.

All filmings ever made of Broadway shows were funded by either private producers or the producers of the show themselves. BroadwayHD nor PBS fund these filmings. They only negotiate the rights to air them and all other financial involvement with airing them.

As mentioned above, you want it filmed? Start the ball rolling by providing some funding not signatures. If your contribution is large enough, the producers might just cough up the rest and voila, the production trucks will be parked outside the Booth Theatre before the show closes.

Things cost money. Maybe Jim Parsons will help you out. Heck, I’m sure he can pay for the whole damn thing with his TV money (that’s what actors call money they make from television).

Also, these petitions have been attempted countless times. You’re not the first one to think of this strategy. Sadly, those petitions made no impression whatsoever as again... producers still will need to pay for this filming.

As for the Lincoln Center Archives goes: not EVERY show is filmed for the archives, due to lack of funding. Each show has to pay for these filmings archived at Lincoln Center. It’s not like the Lincoln Center is obligated to film each show that plays on Broadway.
