The Cast Album Challange!

It didn't take me long to add my stuff to the list but now I have to go back through my LP's and 78's and get the mising titles entered as well.
They also have a "wish list" feature which may help those who are searching for out-of-print titles.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

This is what I could do from memory ...
I haven't vetted it against the actual collection, so I am sure there are more.....

Posted: 3/8/07 at 1:50pmSeeing all these recordings somewhat saddens me. It reminds me of when my entire collection of cast recordings were stolen from my car in 2001. What's worse is that these CDs were not the type the thieves can just sell at the flea market since realistically, there is a limited market for this type of music. I'm just rebuilding my collection but it's nowhere near where I had it back then.

That IS sad, Wildcard. Approximately how many did you have?
I had one odd occurrence when I was away for a weekend and my former roommate had a "friend" come stay over. When I returned about a dozen Cd's had vanished from my shelf, but really weird and esoteric items like FLOYD COLLINS, the boxed 3-CD set of SHOW BOAT and the Rhino soundtracks of GIGI and HARVEY GIRLS. Eventually I replaced them all by going thru used CD stores, but the memory still rankles. And that was only 12 discs!

Pretty small, so far. But I'm working on building it up. I think it's a good mix, at least of the recent stuff.

Aida is the most commenly owned cast album. Interesting.
EDIT: And somebody already has Fame Becomes Me? WTF?

And here I thought Whoop-Up would be our most common recording!

Yay! I'm not the only one in the world who owns Milk and Honey and The Grand Tour.
Click on users, and you can see what's most owned and most wished for, who joined recently, and who has the biggest collection.
BobbyBubby, I know, total shock. I actually thought it would be The Mystery of Edwin Drood.

I'm on M and I'm at 50... I thought it'd be a lot less considering I've only begun buying these this past year.

lol
I think the only reason it's in the top five is because the theater was giving them away for free for a while after it opened. That's how I got it.

Sorry. DRS.
When I saw the show, they were handing out free copies of the recording to the entire audience.

I'm sure it does. Even if I hadn't gotten it for free, I probably would have bought it eventually.
By the way, cute cat. He looks like mine.

Incidentally, that's not me or my cat.
Its Bob Stillman at Grey Gardens 100th performance. But thank you, he is cute.
