For me it is
Best Featured Actor in a Musical because I actually have no idea who it is going to be.
Critics say Gaines
Posters say Breaker and Burstein
Gut tells me DeJesus
Though some say Boyd is the frontrunner but in that race there is no clear frontrunner in mind.
I am also anxious to find out about Best Featured Actress in a Musical because many actually think Olga will pull an upset.
What about you?
None of them, really. The categories where I have favourites are the categories that appear to have foregone conclusions (Actress in a Musical, Musical Revival, that kinda thing). I know that nothing is definite until Sunday, but I really do feel it would be INCREDIBLY futile to get my hopes up on behalf of 'Sunday In The Park With George', at least in the two categories I've mentioned by name.
I guess the closest thing to a category I'll be waiting for is Featured Actor in a Play. I think the frontrunners are Norton and Esparza, and I reckon I'd be happy with either of those. Mind you, I'll be semi-disappointed if Raul wins this year, because I'm sure he won't have deserved it half as much as he did last year. :/
Best Play. I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to see who gets it.
Featured actor in a play for me, shock. Thankfully it's pretty early on if I remember correctly.
And of course the big ones, but who isn't eager for those?
OK...
Benanti will ****ing win. (Who thinks the old woman from In the Heights will pull an upset? You and Susan Haskins?)
Gaines will ****ing win. (This Daniel Breaker crap started this afternoon on ATC.)
LuPone will ****ing win. (Again, this is Ebersole all over again. "Oh, Christine might lose. Oh, it might go to Audra. Oooh." Wrong.)
There will be no upsets in these categories.
Can we stop? I'm not being a Gypsy fanboy (OK, maybe a little). But it will win all three acting categories it is nominated in. Case closed. Done deal. Kaput and all that nonsense.
And I am looking forward to those three categories and the thirty seconds they devote to Stephen Sondheim's lifetime award.
I think I'm going to watch basketball durring most of the musical numbers, save for Sunday, Gypsy, South Pacific and Catered Affair.

I'm actually quite stoked for Best Revival of a Musical. While I think that South Pacific is lovely, I think the revival of SITPWG is brilliant and hoping SITPWG wins.
That being said, rooting for an upset ala Kelli O'Hara.
That's nice, but LuPone will hunt you down. I think that's why Riedel has been shamlessly plugging her in every column he's written since Gypsy opened. Even HE'S affraid.
Best Musical, Best featured Actor and Actress in a musical, I think those awards should go to Christopher Fitzgerald, and Andrea Martin.

It's no suprise that I'm retaining silly hope of a Jenna Russell win for actress. I will be waiting (and drinking!) nervously all night for the result.
Can't wait for the fully committed, fully in attendance Olga Merediz to walk home a winner.
BEST MUSICAL!!!
BOO WBAF! BOO! I've never cried durring the Gypsy strip. Benanti made me cry. She should win.
Best Featured Actress in a Musical
Leading Actress in a Play
I'm waiting for Best Musical (mostly because that is the only one I think I will see "live")
I wish I could see the whole telecast live, but we're in Vegas for a vacation, and are going to see the "The Beatles Love" show or whatever at 7 on Sunday, and will probably go to dinner afterwards.
But I am so excited for the Tonys this year, whether I see it or not. But I'll probably look up the entire thing on youtube if I really need to.

No jv92, this is not like Christine and Audra at all, there is speculation even from pundits (take the latimes for example) that Patti may lose due to her divish behavior and sorry case not closed, and the deal is not done. An upset is likely and you can deny it all you want, but we know Patti's most recent history with the Tonys and the history of this role winning (only 2 ladies have won-Angela and Tyne. So as if now, Kelli has just a shot as Patti so don't you dare count her out. Even the pundits say Patti almost has it. Key word almost, which means there is still room for an upset. Go ahead tell me to stop, say its bull***,but me and everyone else are entitled to our opinions and we continue to voice them whether you like it or not.
Patti has already won the Outer Critics Circle, Drama Desk, and Drama League Awards.
An upset is not THAT likely.
So excited that I posted twice?
Can't wait for the fully committed, fully in attendance Olga Merediz to walk home a winner.
Me too. Can't wait.
Also looking forward to:
Leading actor in a musical (two of my favorites are up against each other)
Best choreography (I think Andy Blankenbuehler has it in the bag but apparently he has competition from Rob Ashford)
Featured actor in a play
BEst musical
I will be waiting for Best Musical and Best Actress.
Any award could go either way. Which is something I like about this years award, nothing is really locked...not even Patti even if she has won all the awards.
We will just have to wait.

Unless "In the Heights" wins both Book and Score, Best Musical will be a cliffhanger.
Other big ones where almost anything could happen are Featured Actress in a Play, Featured Actor in a Musical, Scenic Design of a Musical.
