Korean language production of The Cherry Orchard now running at the Armory through September 26. It’s getting a lot of good buzz, has anyone seen it?

I get what she’s saying and I typically quite like Holden’s reviews, but she can sometimes come across as quite elitist. I don’t think one should need a degree in theater studies to understand a play, and she laments that this production isn’t more subtle. However, I’ve seen Chekhov so subtle as to render it completely inert and meaningless so I think I might appreciate a production that espouses its themes a little more directly. I can’t comment on this production specifically because I waited too long to get tickets and now it’s essentially sold out, which I’m pretty bummed about. I dunno, something about this review bothered me.

I have been seeing tickets pop up on Theatr at great prices so keep an eye on that. Amazed that it sold so well!
