Based on the small snippets of singing Danielle Brooks does on OITNB from time to time, I think she has a great voice. Looking forward to this production.
im excited for this show!! I heard that John Doyle's vision really enhances the story and makes it better!! Plus they changed a lot of things. I never saw the original so I'm happy that this is being revived :)

She sounds (expectedly) fantastic!

Hudson sounds terrific, but what's with the awful musical arrangement? It's not a pop song. I hope that doesn't reflect how the song will be performed in the context of the musical.
I'm assuming it's arranged like that because it's for promo purposes

Lets hope so! Jennifer sounded good singing the song, but she over sings way to much! all those extra riffs and runs are just to much for that song!

Looking good I think. The woman who played Shug in London was good. Sort of mannish, but good.

"I feel sorry for the people paying Broadway prices to watch Jennifer Hudson not-act onstage. "
I

I feel sorry for old hags who find it necessary to be so sourly waspish (as usual).

Or a less necessary comment.

I just got home from seeing Cynthia Erivo in 'Songs for a New World' tonight.
Dude.
She is amazing. I'm sure you all know this already, but I never heard her live before. I can't even believe how great she was. She's going to be astounding as Celie.
I guess I'm crazy to even ask if anyone has a discount code for this?
How come the marquee isn't up yet? Curious to see how it's going to look.

Because it doesn't even start previews until November?
Some great additional casting announced today--the amazing Joaquina Kalukango as Nettie, Isaiah Johnson as Mister, and Kyle Scatliffe as Harpo.
The Cast of The Color Purple begins to take shape
Joaquina Kalukango stole The Wild Party from everyone else in that cast, so I am very excited to see her in this.
Just realized Isaiah Johnson was the understudy for Jake, not the Jake I saw in the Side Show revival. This makes me feel better because I detested the Jake I saw and thought he couldn't sing and instead gave a loud, throaty interpretation of You Should Be Loved.
Kyle Scatliffe was phenomenal in Les Mis
