For real!?!?
I'm sure it's to keep tweaking.
I know people keep comparing it to 9 to 5 BUT I think First Wives Club is more popular and a little more well know especially with younger people. I'm 21 and didn't know what 9 to 5 was but LOVE First Wives Club. I think this might be better and better known than 9 to 5.

Have you watched the video clips?
Isn't only extending like a week or so? How drastic could those changes be? I think they are just accommodating all the people who want to see a flopperoo.

ljay, I think meth might be the only chance in hell they have to win over ANYONE with this...
lol.
P
but only a more popular movie to your age group.
Most people 30 and up would know 9 to 5 quite well. And I have to admit: FWC sounds like a WORSE idea for a b'way musical. I don't even think it was all that successful in the movie theater.

I never saw the 9 to 5 movie, but I have seen the film for FWC and I never saw it as a song waiting to be sung. I think it is awful material for a musical, and their director choice (for the musical) didn't help me sway.

The movie First Wives Club was a big hit.
I always felt FIRST WIVES CLUB seemed very musical.
It's because they're all SISTAS.

Sisters are doing it for themselves!

I'm 23 and I've never heard of 9 to 5 or First Wives Club.

I'm 15 and I know both of those films, does that mean I'm going to run out and see them when they open up on Broadway...nope.
Well, the movie did have a great musical number at the end that the three leading ladies simply nailed. I'm not entirely against musicalizing this movie, but from the reports I hear, it's not likely to be a hit or a good show. Who knows though? It might end up surprising everyone..... (doubtful but possible).
Love that movie, must go rewatch it.

There's also the possibility that the show is selling well.
I imagine if you polled the target audiences for both shows (you know, not 13 year olds) they'd know 9 to 5 better than First Wives Club. The only thing they have in common is they feature 3 ladies and the musical version of each sucks hardcore.
I'm sure it's selling well based on its name. I'd like to see how many calls they get after the reviews.

I'm 23, and more of my friends knew 9 to 5 than First Wives Club.

OK, husk-charmer, I'm biting. How? How do they know about 9 to 5? Or do you mean they have some familiarity with Parton's song.
You're acting like 9 to 5 is an obscure film. Most kids were probably introduced to it by their parents or from one of its countless reruns on television. It's a well known film that continues to sell well on DVD. Not all 23 year olds stick to films made after they were born.
Not obscure, but not as popular or as well known to younger people. I saw it when it played in the theaters, way back when, and have never had a desire to watch it again.
I don't believe it plays on TV as frequently as FWC (and I am in a major market). If you search Twitter, every day you'll find numerous tweets of people watching that movie and how much they love it. I just searched Twitter for 9 to 5 and got nada!
As I've said before here, I might be considered the target market for both of these, but I'm not the least bit interested in revisiting that time in the corporate workplace. Not fond memories for me. But the FWC (movie) is a delight.
Im sorry to jump in here but my friends and my partner are more familair with 9 to 5 than First Wives Club, and thats people ranging from 22 to 35
9 to 5 made more money at the Box office than First Wives Club (Just over 100 million in 1980, adjust for inflation and you do the math)
On top of that its a far more identifiable film.
I like FIRST WIVES CLUB (the movie) better than 9to5 (the movie)
