re: The Flounder Schedule

They're probably gonna do what they did with the Tarzan cast recording and have the boys alternate the songs on the recording.
#27

re: The Flounder Schedule

ya but their character only has one song.

re: The Flounder Schedule

Young Tarzan only had one song to himself in Tarzan but they still alternated songs even if it was group numbers.

re: The Flounder Schedule

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from looking at the musical numbers, Flounder is only in one song ("She's in Love"). The character is not in any other song, right?

Young Tarzan was in "Who Better Than Me" with Terk, then had "I Need to Know" and then was in the beginning of "Everything That I Am."

re: The Flounder Schedule

mywonderwa11- what was the interesting explanation from the former Mrs. Potts? I'm curious to know.
Dean: Can I tell you something? Lorraine: That depends on what it is. Dean: I think you're really really pretty. Lorraine: (after a pause) Ok, you can tell me that.

Finaldestination, I know they are going to be recording the cd soon, so have you heard which one is going to be on the recording? Or if they are doing both?

re: The Flounder Schedule

Well, they've actually already begun rehearsals with the new Flounders (at least musically), so they may use the new kids for the recording since they're sure to know the song well enough by the time they hit the studio. Also, while JJ and Cody are great performers and fun to watch, they've already lowered the key of the song, and they're still just barely making some of the high notes, so I'm sure that has something to do with the recasting (in addition to the good point about their heights mentioned above).

re: The Flounder Schedule

well does anyone even know who the new ones are?

re: The Flounder Schedule

The cast hits the studio Monday to record.

JJ and Cody are technically part of the OBC, so, yes, THEY will be on the recording.

re: The Flounder Schedule

i've heard trevor braun, the longest running & last chip of beauty & the beast is joining the cast as flounder, is there any real truth to that? b/c i mean their already two people playing the role.
#37

re: The Flounder Schedule

Braun has been cast and I am under the impression that one of the new boys will be on the recording.
Which makes sense since the reason they recast is because of their voices.
Didn't anyone at DISNEY know that boys voices change at 12 or 13????

Call me a party pooper, but , isn't it technically the performer that is cast in the role when the show OPENS the OBC member?
For what I understand, if this was supposed to be their Broadway debut, that never happened if the show opened without them, and they really were never ON Broadway :S

re: The Flounder Schedule

As sad as it is for JJ and Cody, I have to agree with you. Technically, whoever opens with the show is considered part of the OBC. And yes, I am under the impression that one of the boys who played Chip has been cast as well as a boy who played Gavroche in Les Mis.

re: The Flounder Schedule

Okay. I just got some new news.

A) JJ and Cody are done after the week of 12-18.
B) After the week of 12-18 they're standbys pretty much
C) As for cast recording they're recording all four kids, and choosing which one sounds better -_-
D) I'm not sure if I can say who the new Flounders are but, I know their names.

OH THIS JUST IN: Disney sucks.

re: The Flounder Schedule

Well, since the Old Flounders are still on contract and will be paid for probably six months, they can be officially called standbys, but they will never go on again.
They got screwed by a kid friendly company,
This is another taint against this show.
#42

re: The Flounder Schedule

they will not do this but how cool would it be if they put all of the kid's tracks on the cast recording???? Disney does suck!

re: The Flounder Schedule

I'm sure they boys/parents/agents were told that they could be let go because of their voice changing. It is a pity for the two boys, and it is bad timing, but really, it was their only choice.

re: The Flounder Schedule

Disney does stuff so secretive
is there something their not
telling the public? but I believe
they did the same with Mary Poppins
thats why they casted 6 actors.for the
children roles.

re: The Flounder Schedule

I don't quite understand why everyone is criticizing Disney for this. It seems pretty reasonable, and I'm sure that showbiz is right in the fact that Disney probably warned them ahead of time. There are many reasons they would keep it secretive for now. Perhaps they just don't want to make an announcement until everything is completely confirmed and ready and the new boys are properly prepared to begin performing. Many studios and agencies wait awhile before reporting casts. That's why there's always so much time for rumors to pop up. Disney is no different and shouldn't be criticized for a common practice.
#46

re: The Flounder Schedule

Without a doubt, this was in the boys' contracts from the get-go. It's standard practice, and has been used in every show that employs children in its cast. It stinks that the timing is so unfortunate, but you really can't blame Disney.
#47

re: The Flounder Schedule

When I think about it, you all ARE right. I mean, it IS just bad timing. It's unfortunate though, get the chance of a lifetime then BAM lose it before opening. Pity.

re: The Flounder Schedule

This is a little off topic, but I'm really curious to hear the reason as to why BATB closed...?

And just to say.. I feel really awful for the boys. I heard they were wonderful.

re: The Flounder Schedule

wow. i really can't believe Disney would do something like this, it is bad enough when things like this happen to adult performers, but kids. i know Trevor personally, worked at his summer camp in 2006 (even helped him & his friend choreograph their talent show dance for "what i've been looking for from HSM), & he lives in my town. He is such a nice & talented boy, but it is ashame he had to get cast in TLM under these circumstances. oh & likthelightbulb, i've heard that it closed to "make way for mermaid", that was what it said on broadway & playbill.com when the closing was announced. &

re: The Flounder Schedule

i sat in front of Trevor and his family a week or so ago and everyone was congratulating him on getting Flounder, so that much seems to be true. Nice kid.
