"wow. i really can't believe Disney would do something like this, it is bad enough when things like this happen to adult performers, but kids. i know Trevor personally, worked at his summer camp in 2006 (even helped him & his friend choreograph their talent show dance for "what i've been looking for from HSM), & he lives in my town. He is such a nice & talented boy, but it is ashame he had to get cast in TLM under these circumstances."
Do something like what? They don't have much of a choice, if they want to preserve the integrity of their show. You can't have Flounder sound like a baritone. It sucks it happened right before opening, but I can guarantee you this was in their contract, and made explicitly clear to them.
Also, "circumstances"?? Again, this happens ALL THE TIME. This is hardly the first time, and this Trevor should not feel ashamed or upset for being put in this position.
I don't really see why people are up in arms about this.
"Again this happens ALL THE TIME"
Please tell me that last time two talented young actors were cast in a featured role in a BIG New Broadway Musical and fired before Opening night becaue the producers don't realize boy's voice change at 12 or 13?
I'm not talking abot right before an opening. I am talking about being essentially fired from a show shortly after beginning, because your voice changed, or you grew. Ask Cameron Bowen how long he was in Les Miz for- it was literally like three weeks, then he grew, and was gone. It is unfortunate that these boys' voices changed so early on, before opening, but there is nothing they can do. The timing is unfortunate.

I've heard Trevor Braun, the longest running & last chip of beauty & the beast is joining the cast as flounder
The other is Brian D'Addario, who has played Gavroche in the Les Miz Revival since October 2006. [Yes, he is gone just now, three weeks before closing.]
Another fast rising star.

I had the distinct pleasure of Musically Directing Brian D'Addario in a show the summer of 06, and I am so glad he will be coming to the role. He is amazingly talented!

congrats to Brian...he was my favorite Gavroche in the revival!
Saw Cody for the first time tonight.. VERY good, although I liked JJ's voice a bit better.
The show, overall, is SO much better than when I saw it during its earlier previews. Much tighter, and everyone more comfortable with their roles.
Sierra is too cute, and Sherie... well, she is a Goddess !!!
AHH! (Minor spazz).
So, the Cody Hanford fan page just posted some AMAZING news:
(THIS IS ALL OFFICIAL)
Title of Bulletin: Some questions answered
"Hey Cody fans! Alright, well here's an answer to many questions I have gotten:
Are Cody and JJ leaving the show soon?
Answer: No. They will be putting in two new boys for the part of Flounder, but keep Cody and JJ in, IE: Four kids will play the part.
So are Cody and JJ still going to be around during opening?
Answer: As far as I know, yes they will.
When is the cast recording coming out?
Answer: February 26th.
When DO Cody and JJ leave the show?
Answer: I will not have an official date until after opening. When I get one I will let you all know!!
Hope this helps with any questions you may have!

So they're staying!
Disney no longer sucks. It will be a little harder to see Cody and JJ though with the two other boys in rotation as well.
Well, anyway, happy Wednesday!
Someday it's a myspace fan page. He doesn't have an official site, etc.
The link is: www.myspace.com/codyhanfordfans
It was in a bulletin the page posted.
THIS IS NOT CODY HANFORD. AND WE ARE IN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH HIM. THIS IS JUST A FAN PAGE! SO PLEASE DO NOT MESSAGE US LIKE WE'RE HIM!
That's the main thing the page says. It's a FAN page...enough said. So then where did they get their information? I wouldn't believe it. I'm sure they'll be sticking around to stay on as standby's through the opening, but won't be going on much if not at all the upcoming performances.
four actors for one part seems a tad excessive, especially for such a small role. Little Tarzan managed just fine with two boys.........this does seem untrue.
I was about to post the same thing. It seems excessive, especially considering that there are only 3 Michael Banks', and that is a much bigger role. Plus, one of them is Henry Hodges, who is about as reliable as they come.
Why on Earth do they need (and why would they pay) four actors for this role? Something is not making sense.

There will be only two as of next week.
or the week after.

[Slight correction] Actually, Brian's last Les Miz performance was tonight (Wednesday, 12/19). [And another] We now hear (12/28 edit) that his first Mermaid is scheduled for Sunday, December 30.
p.s. Break a fin, Brian!

You can't trust a fan page i coul get on there and type what ever i wanted.
these kids look much younger than JJ and Cody, which I think is better for the piece. Now, if they can just switch the costumes out for the new kids.....
gypsy4, Yeah, true, but either way, I get the schedules from THOSE bulletins, and anyone who sees Little Mermaid, could say they were correct (unless a kid got sick, etc).
I'm not quite sure where they get their info, but usually it's correct.
Also, it's a tad better to have four (just hear me out):
If two kids' voices change, then they do not need to look for new kids, they have two (younger) backups. Meaning, they DO need to look for two others, they just have more time etc.
-If only ONE kid's voice changes, then they still have three backups instead of one, etc.
Now I know we could all argue this matter for DAYS, but I'm pretty sure this stuff is true.
But, hey-if they're wrong, it's fine.
But either way, from what they've been saying two new ones (Trevor and Brian) will be ADDED into the rotation pretty soon. Then, Cody and JJ will still be apart of it. So basically each kid gets two performances a week.
That's just my two cents.
The other thread earlier today, mentioning Trevor Braun, got deleted. Huh. Did it go out of control? Something tells me no.
(Doubly interesting because a BWW photo coverage story actually mentioned that Trevor's next project is TLM.)
Theres something on the main BWW Page about "Broadway Kids Christmas" or something. There's a pic of a boy and it said "Future The Little Mermaid" i thought that was odd but now it all makes sense.

I cant wait to find out which one is going to be on the cast recording, I kinda hope its Cody!
Week of 12-26 Flounder schedule is as follows:
Wednesday Matinee-JJ Singleton
Wednesday Evening-Cody Hanford
Thursday Night-JJ Singleton
Friday Night-Cody Hanford
Saturday Matinee-JJ Singleton
Saturday Evening-Cody Hanford
Okay, to clear things up:
Cody and JJ are leaving the 13th
And Trevor and Brian officially take over the 15th.
That's what I've heard, and I'm pretty sure that's correct.
But, anyway, I don't have the schedule for this week (at this time). If I get it, I'll post it.
Also, I probably won't be able to get it for Trevor and Brian, so I'm pretty sure you guys are on your own. But, I think they're going to have a pretty set in stone schedule after previews. So, let's hope.
