re: The Insider Reports on Rosie in Fiddler

Just so long as she hasn't joined by Friday. Bc I am going to see it on Friday. So please don't let her be in it until after Friday.

Norma Crane played opposite Topol

I'm sorry, I cannot imagine Rosie doing this role.

Wow, talk about a production doing a 360! This chilly mounting just keeps getting warmer and warmer.

I loved Harvey as Tevye - it's not about the voice - it's the schmaltz, the love, the PAPA-ness of it all. And I bet Rosie will bring her abundant Mama love to Golde. Yes, it may be a challenge for her to rein it in and play such a supporting role - the ultimate woman-behind-the- mensch. But she's got the love going, and that's the soul of Fiddler.

P.S. Andrea Martin was perfectly wonderful, too. Only thing missing is now a yiddischekeit Yente. Right? Of course right.

Where's Rob's blog? And why hasn't he put a post on the board about it?

Speculation on Playbill.

IMO, she's too shrill for the role. She should play the ghost of Fruma Sarah instead. Her screeching will be just right for the role. "What is this about your daughter marrying my husband."

As much as I hated Harvey in this role when I saw it two weeks ago, I would see it again if Rosie was in it. I think she will be AWFUL in the role, but I think I should support her and go see it. I was a huge fan of her show...sad that it's not around anymore.

I don't enjoy either Harvey's or Rosie's voices, particularly, and I'm one of those people who believe that singing well in a musical is important, regardless of whether you can act or not.
(At $100 per ticket, I expect both.) My reaction to this is that it's probably a good thing it's closing in January.
