Did anyone catch this show? I saw Alison at a Pride Event on the Lower East Side today...her speech was fantastic!
Fortune Miester from Chelsea Lately hosted, and several great artists performed. It was such a great time, with free snacks and drinks and giftbags...amazing.

Posted: 6/17/12 at 6:50amI would have loved to as I really enjoyed her book (same title) however, it didn't coincide with a visit to the city.

Posted: 6/17/12 at 11:52amDear Sir: It's actually A r n g r i m. from RC in Austin, Texas P.S. I've read the book. It is brutally shocking...especially with what she experienced as a young girl.

Posted: 6/17/12 at 1:29pmThe book on which the show is based is excellent, and she does a great job translating the material into a performance. She's hilarious and very natural, and her stories range from outrageous (such as her childhood spent living in The Chateau Marmont, where she befriended Bea Lillie and Christine Jorgensen) to moving (caring for her on-screen husband Steve Tracy as he died in the early days of AIDS) to heroic (her actions in California led to the repeal of a law that basically legalized incestuous sexual abuse, and she has since worked to have similar laws struck down in other states). If you ever have a chance to see it in your area, it's worth it. She's also an all-around lovely person, and very funny.
