The Urinetown toilet paper was a BC/EFA flea market thing. I have it too. :)

The coconuts at Spamalot, a group in front of me bought them for their son, the entire intermission was him clapping away on them as well as on the way out after the show.

I love the little green wicked monkeys, but I think do think people would look a little odd using the parrot head umbrella from Mary Poppins.

I own the green monkey from WICKED, a can of SPAMalot Spam, and other very individual, specific items from various shows.

Personally, I like the "oddball" items the most. They stand out and make the meories more vivid re: The Most Stupid Theater Merch You have Seen

This kind of fits in here. I always found it ironic that Les Mis sells t-shirts that are 99% likely to have been made in sweatshops.

To the person who thinks the umbrellas in wicked are random- how you seen wicked? there is an umbrella used in the show, and the inside of the umbrella has a quote from that scene. Its not random.

The clear plastic keychains sold at some of the shows look like utter garbage.

"Grey Gardens did have great T-Shirts. But they also had a $50.00 teapot which had nothing at all to do with the show.

The teapot was a "tea for one" in reference to the lyric in Two Peas in a Pod."

Oh, right. Then I'll amend my statement to read, "a teapot in reference to a random lyric that had nothing to do with the show."

How about Spamalot spam ?

In the theater it is about $ 12. In a local store, after the show opened, it was $ 2.50. Barnum was right.

"The coconuts at Spamalot, a group in front of me bought them for their son, the entire intermission was him clapping away on them as well as on the way out after the show."

Those make sense for the show...what's stupid about it is they are about $15. I can hollow out my own coconut for cheaper.

My favorite souvenier: my "The show Must Go On" tote bag from Curtains. I took one look at it and knew I had to have it. Now it's my rehearsal bag: a nice storage space for all of the crap I lug to the theatre on our weekend rehearsals. I love it.

And I love programs, but some of them a re kinda lame for the price (i.e. $20 for the Wicked program that was nothing but oversized photos.) Best programs I've bought: Mary Poppins, and the recent Evita tour.

I could be wrong, but I thought I heard when Avenue Q opened in London, they sold "I'm Not Wearing Underwear Today" underwear, which I actually thought was really funny, if kind of random.

That would have been a better t-shirt, that way people could actually read it.

I don't usually buy merch when I see a show. I wait until the BC/EFA flea market and see what I can score for cheap. This year I got two Grey Gardens shirts - one really nice soft blue t-shirt with "Grey Gardens" on the front in silver, and a tank top that says "Daddy's Girl."

I want one of the Mary Poppins umbrellas but I refuse to pay $50 for it.

The funniest show merch I've ever seen was at Debbie Does Dallas - they sold dildos that looked like bananas. No joke.

I'm sorry, but I like my Sweeney Todd apron! It makes it that much more appetizing when I have people over for lasagna.

Those brains from YF are $10! Little stress balls for $10! And the backpacks are $40.

And also YF has much more stuff coming. More T-Shirts and stuff which they will slowly integrate as they get them shortly after the show opens. I think they started with the "Please don't Touch Me" Ladies T-Shirts with hands prints on the back. Thats a cute idea....$35.

And one more thing. I used to work merch and one thing I learned is that mugs fall apart and are often broken before they are sold. If you buy one, wiggle the handle of the mug by your ear and see if you hear anything. About half the time you'll hear a grinding sound....don't buy that mug, it'll fall apart before you get it home. And NEVER buy CDs in theatres.

...my two cents...
