That original thread is so full of misinformation and speculation I thought we could start a new thread with the newest misinformation and speculation since it doesn't seem like we're getting official news this week. Anyone else finding this wait excruciating? I don't think I've wanted a cast list out as much as I do this one...
What is the latest news as to when the casting is supposed to be announced?

Anyone else hear that Catherine Zeta-Jones/Chita Rivera rumor?
I don't think anyone knows. It probably won't be this week.
I hope that is JUST a rumor!!! I LOVE Chita but...she usually gets a dance number in everything even if it doesn't have one to begin with. We don't need to see Madame Armfeldt dance!
That was definitely a joke from Mr. Yankee.
Thank goodness!
From some of the other rumors on the old thread I wouldn't have known otherwise!
Many are saying Esparza declining the role is the reason for the delay but who knows at this point...
I don't even know if the Lansbury rumor has any weight to it. We'll see...
Regardless, there are going to be the inevitable lot of unhappy campers.
I do know for a fact that when a fan asked Angela the other day if we would see her as Armfeldt that she responded that "we'll just have to see about that." I have the impression that it may be her holding up the casting, trying to negotiate the most lucrative possible deal before she signs the dotted line.

No, it means she is a Lady, whatever is happening.
She knows to keep things close to the vest,
till the right moment for the production.
If Raul lost this, I feel sorry for him,
the real story is always more interesting than the rumors.
I don't even know why I'm writing this, but Chita/Zeta-Jones would be so great!
CPD, "no"...what? I didn't purport any confirmations. I reported what I overheard and remarked my own impression.

Jewishboy, I heart you.
There's a rumor I'm excited about, there's a rumor that directly contradicts it that would make me annoyed. Seriously, all this NIGHT MUSIC has been so far is rumor after rumor. It'll be nice to get a casting announcement and end the speculation. I was hoping they would have announced the theatre and ticket sales by now.
I was going to say that Zeta-Jones and Rivera would give ALNM a latin undertone and then I remembered Zeta-Jones is from Wales!!!
Stupid "Mask of Zorro"! You have scarred me for life!!!
"we" are all one,
and we are all together.
Stokes should slip in
and whip that Brit
into shape.
This could work.

I think the delay may be attributed to the fact that the casting team almost had the thing cast, but then got in touch with Frank Wildhorn, who convinced them to go Latino together...
Funny, this thread has even more misinformation than the old one...

Yep, that's what I heard too. Now the delay is in getting Lin-Manuel Miranda on board to translate portions of Petra's lyrics into Spanish. Miranda claims to worship at Sondheim's feet but after the success of the WSS translations he's demanding a higher price...
Yes Yero, but you don't have to scroll twenty some pages to get the misinformation...(yet).
No, rather than weed out all the pesky truths, now you can go straight to the nonsense!

Well, here's some real news.
Leslie Uggams and Ron Raines are playing Desiree and Fredrik this fall at Michigan Opera Theatre in Detroit.
It's not Broadway, but at least it's not something based on speculation and "I know somebody who knows somebody" rumors.
This is the show about the wicked witch of the west right?
My sister's hairdressers's brother-in-law went to high school with the casting director's niece's babysitter, and she told me that Elaine Stritch is playing Armfeldt.
Elaine Stritch...so yes.
