Sadly, IMFCSMN is very shortened. And is missing the big dance break at the end.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, that makes me sad *tear*
So is Charity not closing Sunday?
NO!
But some really amazing productions close this Sunday.. *tear*
I loathed "The Rhythm of Life" in this revival. It was just a disaster with that out of tune American idol screaming over everything. Ughhh. Just awful. BUt I thought the entire show (minus O'Hare's neurotic performance) was fairly dull and lifeless. I could only hope Applegate's voice sounds better on CD than live. Hopefully they'll have NASA-ified her voice will some recording technology. I'll probably just pick up the OHare songs when it hits the itunes store (hopefully).
O'hare is not that great IMO. I enjoyed him - but he has nothing on John McMartin.
Did he deserve his Drama Desk? YES! But does he deserve all these raves, NO.
Oh and they didn't use any studio tricks on Christina. Trust me. She sounded better in the theater.

True, O'Hare is an acquired taste I think. But like him or not, he is THE staple actor right now for any neurotic in any broadway show.
Does Christina sound closer to Shirley MacLaine or Gwen Verdon on this recording?
Definetly Shirley. Christina dosen't have the raspy charm that Gwen had. Christina's voice is cute, and basically just that.

I liked Shirley's take on the character. I like this show. One more Charity recording won't hurt. I may just burn a mixed CD comprised of all the recordings. One song from each recording to make up the whole score. That should be fun to do.
Have to get this- can't wait!!
If you don't mind me asking- how much was the CD at the theatre? Can you buy it in regular stores yet?
The theatre sells it for $20
Regular Stores should have it July 12
