I just looked this up and it seems like a revised/new version of V-Day, which was at NYMF 2 years ago. If that's the case, then the version I saw at NYMF was a lot of fun and had great potential, it was very funny and charming and Rossmer and Rosen were both great in it.
I caught the third (I think) preview of it on Friday night and loved it. Kate Wetherhead is a total riot here, and David Rossmer/Steve Rosen are so easily lovable onstage. (Also, where the hell did Hannah Elless come from and why do I not know who she is? That voice+look combo... whew!)
There were a few jokes/songs that I hope may be cut during previews, since they didn't land, but overall I would give it a solid B+ for pure entertainment. It's really hard not to find yourself giggling profusely during the entire thing.
I saw the show today and it was SO GOOD!!! It is hilarious beginning to end, with some touching moments as well. The cast are all superb: Steve Rosen, David Rossmer, Kate Wetherhead, Hannah Elless, and even musicians Vadim and Ken lend some good laughs. The music is fun and upbeat Neil Diamond style.
It's less than an hour and half, so easy to fit into your day. Go down to the SoHo playhouse and see it!!!
Very enjoyable musical and as mentioned before everyone is quite fun. I really liked the humpy keyboard player myself as the landlord Love to date him. but Rebecca or Kate is a total hoot and almost steal the show. . Sorry I get them confused. Fun night of theatre.
