Uma was awful in the movie. I'm sorry, she sang like a croaking frog, she danced as if it was painful and her acting was up to par with a good adult movie actress.
She looked wonderful thanks to the makeup artist and costume designer, but other than that, she was terrible.
I can understand what people mean about Beach ans Bart playing the role over the top, but the whole point of the film was to be over the top and to be stagey. Of all the actors, Beach, Bart and Lane went with the film's concept and were the most satisfactory (alright terrific) actors in the film.
Anyone else think (aside from the obvious flaws of the film) that Will Ferrell was nominated because he originated a role, whereas Beach and Bart replicated their roles from the stage. Obviously, so did Lane but he is the lead so it might be more acceptable?

Marlothom, it's possible that's why Ferrell was nominated. Maybe also because he is part of the Hollywood community and part of pop culture. Either way, I don't think he deserved the Golden Globe nomination, but I think Beach and Bart did. I heard on some entertainment news program that Ferrell commands $20 million per film now. Frankly, I find that unbelievable.

Couldn't agree with you more. Will Farrell was okay, but nothing great, and certainly not as good as Brad Oscar or John Tracey Eagan on stage.

Obnoxious: I can only remember the movie "Titanic" which I felt clobbered over the head with how bad rich people are instead of the tragedy of lost lives. And believe it or not, I am a liberal. the term "Messages" is vague however. Also, I don't hate every movie that tries to teach (even though I said I did). And concerning The Producers. Don't you think that the final routine with Nathan and Matthew was done well. You know, the song before the credits came up?
