Is it just me, or does The Producers never get old?
I still laugh with the CD even after listening to it non-stop over and over again.

Some of the jokes have gotten old, but for the most part, I still laugh, at everything. And even if it wasn't funny, I could still probably listen to it over and over again, because I like the music (and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with hearing Roger and Gary's voices...)
I still laugh at some of the jokes on the cast recording. I didn't love the actual show though.

I didnt really love this show. I think I went into it expecting too much or something because I left wondering what the big deal was. Not that it wasnt enjoyable, it was, just didnt live up to the hype. I had to see a second time cuz my friend won the walk on from the BC/EFA Grand Auction and it was one too many for me! which is odd for me cuz I usually see shows I like atleast 3 times. guess its just not my cup of tea.
I agree, mistress. I just found the whole show to be amateur and terrible - the sets, the direction, the book, and the music. The choreography is quite good - when there actually is choreography. I seriously have never been more bored at a show - I was even more engaged and interested during OLDEST LIVING CONFEDERATE WIDOW TELLS ALL.

Mel Brooks always has an amazing combination of slapstick and "witty" comedy in his creations. Men and Tights and Blazing Sadles never get old either.
i was just wondering how a show that makes fun of gay people did well.....it was offensive....and boring and lame. i wanted to leave after the 1st half an hour....i can believe is still on Bway....TACKY!

Mistress, I agree. It just didn't live up to all that hype.
It was witty and fun, but not that brilliant everybody said it is. Sets were rubbish! I think Brad Oscar, who was playing Max, was awful - so overacting it wasn't even funny! Roger Bart as Leo was ok. The understudy playing Ulla didn't have the voice to pull off "When you got it...". Brad Musgrove as Carmen was the only really funny character - I don't know if it was scripted but he did this endles "yessssssssssssssssss...?", the s went on like forever!
But I was a bit disappointed with the show, so much fuss over so little. But there are a lot of shows that aren't even half as good as The Producers!

Yeah - shows that make fun of gay people and Jewish people are just WRONG - somebody better tell that to the producers of SPAMALOT - they have a huge flop on their hands.
We need more wholesome musicals that won't offend anyone. Shows like GOOD VIBRATIONS.
I adored The Producers and it never gets old for me, either.

Has anyone seen it with Richard Kind? I am a big fan of his, and almost got tickets from TKTS, but they were singles so we went to see La Cage instead..
I'm a big fan or Richard Kind too, and I want to see it very soon.
The only thing that THE PRODUCERS lacks?
A "minstrel show" version of "Prisoners of Love".
Oh, and a dream ballet.
A Brooks-Stroman verson of one of those, I'd give my tonsils for.

Jon, you took the words right out of my mouth.
Sant, the endless "yessss" was (I think- correct me if I'm wrong) an ad-lib on Roger Bart's part. They realized it was hysterical and it became part of the script.

Roger Bart did the endless "Yessss?" at his audition. He mentions it during Seth's Broadway Chatterbox. I forget what he said exactly, but it was something like, "I think in the script it was three or four ["s"'s] but I made it more like thirty-seven."

Aha, so I'm... partially correct.
Oh, Roger. You ARE a bloody little genius.

Meh. I used to have that interview in my favorites... why isn't it there, anymore?
Those two are so cute together. ^^ Even if they aren't, technically.

No, they are together, they just don't know it yet.

*Nod* Exactly. Is that where we come in, or would they do fine if left to their own devices?

I think this might require an intervention. Otherwise they might never realize their love for each other.
I haven't seen the producers on stage, but i love the obcr..
My parents saw the tour and LOVED it. They only went because a really great friend of mine is one of the dancers (and ulla u/s!), but they found it to be quite amusing.

And what kind of world would that be? I ask you: what kind of world?

*Cough* So, in conclusion, The Producers never gets old for me

The Producers never gets old for me, but then again I'm obsessed with it. I'm so sorry that so many of you do not care for it, but I guess that's why they make chocolate and vanilla!

Well, among all of the posts from those who hated The Producers, I'll post mine to say I loved the show! Each time I saw it, it was an evening of great entertainment -- just meant to be a lot of fun. I still get a kick listening to the OBC recording.
PS Loved Brad as Max, too. After Nathan, he's been the next best Max and very successful in the role.
