Why I have not posted in this thread before today baffles me.
I love me some Raúl.
I really, really want to see him cast in the revival of 'Merrily We Roll Along'.
NYTimes: FRI July 11
"Raúl Esparza, the Tony-nominated star of “The Homecoming,” will join the cast of “Speed-the-Plow,” the acerbic David Mamet play returning to Broadway in October. Mr. Esparza has signed on to play the role of Charlie Fox, a Hollywood producer, opposite Jeremy Piven, who will play the production executive Bobby Gould. The role of Karen, the ditsy secretary played by Madonna in the original 1988 production, has yet to be cast.
Any updates on last night's gala at Westport?

I watched the entire season of Pushing Daisies today. I'd missed it when it originally aired cause I had rehearsals. Seeing Raul on my television screen makes me happy. He is so sweet and charming as Alfredo. :) .....And how bout that Lee Pace!!!!
I'm really gonna try hard to catch the first preview of Speed the Plow. I've never read the play, but I like David Mamet very much. Hell, I'd see anything that Raul throws his balls against the wall for...

If we're looking at Sondheim songs, how about "Last Midnight" from Into the Woods. We already know that Raúl makes an amazing witch:

I've never had one of my posts appear; I wonder if the board has a thing against Boston.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE that he's doing plays... but I really want him to do another musical. I just can't get enough of his singing voice.

Jim Dale was also the narrator on Pushing Daisies.
Since I'm in Boston and not really an opera fan, I gave back the two $12 tickets. NYCO was pleased they will now be able to distribute them as needed.
Called City Center just now and got a pretty good seat in the rear mezzanine for Sat. April 10 matinee. Love the music from this show...should be great!
I was just listening to Dorothy Louden sing "50%" from Ballroom and had the thought that Raul doing this at Broadway Backwards of Miscast would be so great.
